It’s hard to believe that Joss Whedon’s The Avengers 3D opens just two months from today. Marvel has released (via CBM) image of Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki.

Loki says Thor 2 will film in the summer

Thor 2 has been having trouble finding a director ever since Kenneth Branagh decided to not return. Patty Jenkins was set to direct, but she dropped out (or was fired (depending on who you believe)), and Alan Taylor seems to be the final choice for the job. The film’s release date was delayed to November 2013, but it seems that production on the film wasn’t affected at all. The God of Mischief himself Tom Hiddleston has revealed that filming on the sequel will begin this Summer. No specific date has been announced yet, but it’s good to know the film is still on track.

Coming Soon has recieved some new images from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Some of them are entirely new, and a few of them are just hi-res versions of previously seen images.

The Avengers opens on May 4th, 2012.

Marvel has released several new stills from Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Stellan Skarsgard and Kat Dennings.

Loki confirmed for The Avengers

Other than The Dark Knight Rises, the identity of the villain(s) for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers has been long speculated. We’ve heard rumors Earth’s Mightiest Heroes would be taking on The Skrulls, but those were quickly dismissed. But it seems as the film has its first villain. Hidden in an article at Deadline Hollywood confirms that Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his role as Thor’s nemesis Loki. However, it still remains to be seen if he’ll be controlling The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) as rumored (here). If so, then hopefully it won’t the primary villain, and that Whedon will bring in a greater force to face The Avengers in May of 2012.

Rumor: The Avengers villains revealed

While Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises is looking to be the biggest film of 2012, Joss Whedon’s The Avengers isn’t far behind. It’ll bring together Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Thor (Chis Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) into one big ensemble film. With all those characters, many have been wondered about who will take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

A couple rumors have been heard (here), but it seems we finally have confirmation on the villains. A tweet by Gregory Littley is claiming the villains will none other than Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Hulk. “Here you go: The Hulk will be a villain in #Avengers….but the main baddie is Loki.” Yes, this rumor has been going around for sometime now, and mostly started due to Loki controlling Hulk in the comics. But recent reactions by Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo have led many to assume the idea is possible. Although, Loki simply controlling Hulk seems to be disappointing in terms of how much fans are anticipating this film.

The recent Marvel adaptations have been drawing from the Ultimates, and it’s likely Whedon will be doing the same for The Avengers. While Whedon could definitely be wanting to please the fans by having Loki control Hulk in the film, it’s doubtful it would be the two main villains. Littley also mentions that “more details to come”, but take this as a rumor for right now.

Thor trailer from Comic-Con

Comic-Con may have ended last Sunday, but we are still seeing plenty of coverage. For those who didn’t get a chance to visit the convention, a trailer was shown at the Marvel Studios panel for Thor. That trailer has now founds its way online (via Trailer Addicts).

Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Tom Hiddleston. It was written by Ashley Miller and Don Payne. Kenneth Branagh is directing.

Thor will open on May 5, 2011.

SDCC ’10: The Helmets from Thor

When we got our first glimpse at Thor’s costume, fans were wondering if they would be giving the character his helmet. Marvel Studios unveiled at Comic-con (via Coming Soon), the helmets for Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Odin (Sir Anthony Hopkins), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) on display in a glass case. And these aren’t props,but are the exact helmets the actors will be wearing in the film directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Thor will open on May 6, 2011.

The rest of the cast is rounded up for War Horse

It’s time to go and straighten out the mistakes that have clearly been reported over and over again on the internet with Steven Spielberg’s War Horse. The biggest news of this entire piece is that Jeremy Irvine will be taking on the lead role of Albert, despite previous reports that Eddie Redmayne would be in the film. Along with that, there are other casting additions that include Emily Watson, David Thewlis, Peter Mullan, Niels Arestup, David Kross, Leonard Carow, Patrick Kennedy, Robert Emms and Benedict Cumberbatch.

War Horse traces the friendship between Joey, a farm horse sold into the British army and sent off to serve on the battlefields of France during World War 1, and Albert (Irvine), his young owner. Watson and Mullan play Albert’s parents (Empire Online).

The Michael Morpurgo novel is written for the big screen by Lee Hall and Richard Curtis. Principal photography is set to begin in London this August in order to reach it’s 2011 release date.

Hiddleston tackles the War Horse

Steven Spielberg’s War Horse continues on it’s casting rampage, but this time it’s more so speculation than anything else that Thor actor Tom Hiddleston will be climbing onboard the production. If that’s the case, he’d be joining Eddie Redmayne who’s already sunk his claws into the lead role.

The story, based off the novel by Michael Morpurgo, follows a young man named Albert whose beloved horse, Joey, is sold to the cavalry and sent off for active duty in World War I. Despite being too young to enlist, Albert heads to France to save his friend (The Wrap). Principal photography is poised to begin this August over in London in order to reach their 2011 release date.

Hiddleston will be getting his Norse god on in the Marvel Studios production of Thor. The Kenneth Branagh directed film has Hiddleston as the jealous and villainous brother Loki who’s hell bent on burying his brother Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. The epic mythological comic book adapted feature comes out in theaters on May 6th, 2011.

Destroyer from Thor is revealed

A lot of us have been speculating what is going on the set of Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, dying to catch a glimpse of Chris Hemsworth as the Norse hammer-welding god. Well, the picture from Latino Review isn’t him, but it’s a pretty good peek of Destroyer from the film.

What is Destroyer? As the name implies, he’s here to destroy one thing and one thing only; Thor. In the Marvel comics he’s summoned several times by Loki, and used by a few others, to go and duke it out with Thor in an attempt to finally kill him. At least were guaranteed a bit of action alone with this character.

Chris Hemsworth stars as a partially disabled medical student, Dr. Donald Blake, who discovers his heretofore unknown alter ego, the Norse warrior, Thor. The cast also includes Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander and Kat Dennings.

Thor comes out in theaters on May 6th, 2011 from Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures.:

Rene Russo is Thor’s Mama

That’s a title that many of us could more than likely have never had imagined to see. SuperHeroHype reports that Rene Russo will be filling up the role of Frigga in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh directed Thor movie. Frigga is an Asgardian who’s the Queen of Asgard, wife to Odin and step mother to Thor along with a foster mother to Loki. That will make for quite the interesting family tree on the big screen with Chris Hemsworth as the mighty Norse god, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Thor’s papa and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

This makes the cast look absolutely gigantic now if you include the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenston, Stuart Townsend, Kat Dennings and Natalie Portman if you want the tip of the iceburg. From what has been gathered so far, without Marvel releasing the actual plot synopsis, the story is about a partially disabled medical student Dr. Donald Blake discovers his heretofore unknown alter ego, the Norse warrior, Thor. The feature is scheduled to start filming in mid-January of 2010 with a May 20th, 2011 release date.

Elba joins up with Thor

This is the part where this reporter takes back what was previously said in a Thor article about the casting most likely being completed. THR reports that Idris Elba, appearing in films like The Unborn and Obsessed, is playing the Norse god Heimdall in this upcoming Marvel Studios movie. This particular god is the brother of Sif (Jaimie Alexander) who protects the city of Asgard.

He’s the latest addition to the huge cast that’s formed through these past couple of months. Chris Hemsworth plays our long haired Norse god Thor in the Kenneth Branagh directed comic book adaptation. Also on the cast is Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddelston and tons more. As you can tell, this is shaping up to at least look promising on paper. Once shooting starts mid-January, we’ll finally get to see if this monster cast will add up into a good movie.
