Adaptation of Palahniuk’s novel Snuff gets cast

Here’s some mighty interesting news, a new adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Snuff is in the works and it has scored itself three cast members. Fabien Martorell the director sent word to Palahniuk’s official site about the casting news.

To set the scene here is the synopsis for Snuff (Amazon): Cassie Wright, porn priestess, intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication porn movies, on camera, with six hundred men. Snuff unfolds through the perspectives of Mr. 600, Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Wright’s personal assistant, Sheila. With his satirical narrative and thorough research, Chuck Palahniuk reveals through these four characters the little-known facts and histories of not only pornography and sexual deviance, but also acting and life in and out of the spotlight, and throughout the novel shows the rarely acknowledged presence of pornography in modern America.

The main character of Cassie will be played Daryl Hannah, Mr. 600 will be played by Tom Sizemore and Sheila will be played by Thora Birch. This is certainly an interesting line-up, Daryl Hannah has previous experience playing an aged stripper (Dancing At The Blue Iguana). Tom Sizemore now being notorious for having a sex tape, and Thora Birch who seems to have faded out the last few years.

Director Fabien has some interesting ideas on how to shoot the film as well: “SNUFF is a Suspense/Thriller sets in the gritty world of adult entertainment. Fabien Martorell would like to shoot SNUFF as a single “closed door” set. The use of flashbacks will aide in the communication of character history, and help sustain a dramatic rhythm.”

Manson Girls getting its cast

Before the court drama that has sent Lindsay Lohan to rehab, she was signed on to be in Manson Girls, a tense look at the cult that Charles Manson led in the late 1960s. She was cast, signed, and dumped. Who’s replacing her? Director Susanna Lo has a cast that now includes Thora Birch, Heather Matarazzo, Nikki Blonsky, Jennifer Landon, Erin Kelly, and Michael Monks (via Bloody-Disgusting).

The film follows “a young girl from a wealthy Malibu family who fell under Manson’s spell. She was not one the “Family” members involved in the clan’s infamous murder spree, but Pitman was later imprisoned after she became involved with the Aryan Brotherhood and was convicted of being an accessory (after the fact) to murder.”

The Story of Bonnie and Clyde casts on

First off, there is a remake that’s already in the middle of pre-production of Bonnie and Clyde called The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. Sure, it’s absolutely harmless, since there’s a fine number of remakes out there in Hollywood nowadays. The thing that makes it instantly cringe-worthy is the casting process which already deems pretty boy Kevin Zegers and not-so-great Hilary Duff in the two main roles. The casting continues as JoBlo announces the newest arrivals acting wise with Thora Birch, Rance Howard, Richard Tyson, Taryn Manning, Cloris Leachman and Natalie Canerday.

The impending remake is being written and directed by Tonya S. Holly. The feature is set to come out sometime in 2010, but since there is no definite word on when they will start initial filming, we can only guess. It would be awful pessimistic to guess whether or not this film will succeed at all, but that’s the part of myself at the moment I cannot help.

All aboard! TRAIN terrorizes home video

Train originally started out as a remake to the Jamie Lee Curtis slasher Terror Train, only to have its plot steer in the direction of torture-porn films like Hostel, Turistas, and Saw.

Lionsgate is set to release it on November 17.

Synopsis: Touring Eastern Europe with her college wrestling team, Alex (Thora Birch) attends a debauched late-night party that causes Alex and several teammates to miss their train to Odessa. Her coach is furious, but a mysterious woman offers the coach and wrestlers a ride on an alternative train. The coach agrees, and the athletes, exhausted and hung over, gratefully climb aboard. But the train harbors a deadly secret, and for Alex and her fellow passengers, a blood-soaked nightmare is just beginning.
