Odd Thomas seeking Nico Tortorella

A little while back we told you about Odd Thomas, the Dean Koontz novel that was getting adapted by Stephen Sommers (here). The film had nabbed it’s leading man with Anton Yelchin, and negations are underway for Nico Tortorella (Scream 4) to portray a villain role with Willem Dafoe. The latter will play a local police chief with Tortorella as a young officer who is also a member of a satanic cult. The film will have a budget between $20 to $3o million and they are hoping to shoot this summer/spring in New Mexico.

Van Helsing, Del Toro style?

We’re not saying that he’s suddenly going to go and direct a new version of the Universal Pictures property, but former The Hobbit director Guillermo Del Toro does have his hand in other parts of the production, says Pajiba. Yes, that is correct, Universal is going back to their Van Helsing property, but it’s not entirely a remake to the 2004 Stephen Sommers film. This time, Del Toro wrote up a treatment that the studio will be using for this new version of the super awesome vampire killer from the Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel.

Del Toro is producing, but no word on whether or not he’ll direct his own written piece. Given the fact that he’s off the boat with The Hobbit films, he’s got plenty of time to do it. That is unless he’s got something else already on his plate that we don’t know about, but eventually we’ll hear some sort of confirmed plans for his next project.

New international trailer for G.I Joe: Rise of the Cobra

Although the next official trailer for G.I Joe comes out tomorrow afternoon, today, the international trailer for Stephen Sommers’ action extravaganza has just made its way online, and its quite a thing to behold. The new trailer is just as cheesy and campy as expected, but may turn out to be so bad its good in the end.

G.I Joe: Rise of the Cobra opens in theaters everywhere August 7th, 2009.

First look at Destro from G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra

Today the fine folks over at Topless Robot premiered the first look at the villain from Stephen Sommers’s G.I Joe : Rise of the Cobra. The villain Detsro is being played by 28 days later star Christopher Eccleston. As surprisingly good and expensive the film looked based on its trailer, one would assume the same care would be taken on the films main villain.
