Could Stephen Lang return for Avatar 2?

There’s many great aspects about James Cameron’s Avatar, and one of those was the great performance Stephen Lang gave as the villain Col. Miles Quaritch. His did meet an end during the film’s climax, but the actor told Movieweb that he recently had lunch with Director James Cameron about the film. “As to my own relationship to it, I can’t really say anything about that, at all, other than I’m just proud to be on the team. Whether I appear in Avatar 2 or Avatar 3, I always feel I’m a part of the Avatar team. I know that’s a non-answer, but that’s it,” he said. While it’s probably unlikely that his character could return from the dead somehow, Quaritch’s legacy could play some part in the film. Although, it’s hard to say where Cameron could go with this sequel, but we have heard that it will be taken under the waters of Pandora (here).

Conan remake gets a old, familiar title

The folks over at Lionsgate have once again changed the title of Marcus Nispel’s Conan remake. Originally, the film was called Conan the Barbarian, but was changed to simply Conan, then Conan 3D. Now, Coming Soon reports that Lionsgate have changed the title once more, and seemed to have settled on Conan the Barbarian.

It’s unknown why they decided to go with the same title of the 1982 classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Although, one could assume that it was done as to not alienate the fans of the original film. Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis) will be filling in the role of Conan, with Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, and Ron Perlman c0-starring.

After Jason Momoa was announced to play the role of the barbarian, a lot of us were wondering how the actor would look like in the role. We don’t have to wait any further as Collider presents to us the first pictures of the ripped actor in proper attire.

The Marcus Nispel directed film also includes the talents of Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang and Rachel Nichols. Based off the character created by Robert E. Howard, Conan centers on the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.

Conan will be released in theaters sometime in 2011 under Lionsgate.:

McGowan joins on Conan

Principal photography is already slated to start up on Marcus Nispel’s Conan this upcoming Monday, but casting had not been completed until now. Rose McGowan rounds out the list of talent attached to the remake being handled by Lionsgate. Among those already on the cast include Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang, Leo Howard, Rachel Nichols and Ron Perlman.

The script is penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer and Sean Hood based on the books written by Robert E. Howard. Lang will portray a sadistic warlord, and McGowan is to play an evil half-human/half-witch. Howard appears as young Conan, and Perlman portrays Conan’s father, says Variety.

The feature is being produced by Avi Lerner, Joe Gatta, Boaz Davidson, George Furla, Henry Winterstern and Fredrik Malmberg. The Nu Image/Millennium Films and Paradox Entertainment picture is poised to come out in theaters sometime in 2011.

G.I. Joe actor goes to Conan

Said Taghmaoui climbs on board as the latest addition to the cast of Conan, being directed by Marcus Nispel. He joins up on a cast that already includes Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang and Ron Perlman. Taghmaoui is playing a leader of thieves who is saved by Conan (Jason Momoa) and later offers him aid. Lang is a ruler in search of a queen whose blood will bring life to the demonic minions of a long-lost god (THR).

Conan is based off of the character by Robert E. Howard that already got the big screen treatment twice in the early eighties with Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer. The newest version is penned by Sean Hood, Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly. Conan is expected to come out under Lionsgate in theaters sometime in 2011.

Lang to be Singh

For those of you who more than likely have no idea what were talking about, Khalar Singh is the villain on the upcoming Conan remake, which Avatar actor Stephen Lang just confirmed he was going to play next. Here’s a little more on the confirmation he made verbally about the role to MTV.:

“I’ve accepted the role of Khalar Singh,” Lang told MTV News when asked about the rumor.

“I have no idea how I’m going to do it,” Lang laughed. “First I’m going to find out how I’m going to sound. I’m going to get back on a Mongolian pony and ride like the wind. I’m going to flash my scimitar. I’m going to cut the nuts off Conan and his father.”

If that does not sound absolutely bad ass then I don’t know what does to you. The Conan remake is being directed by Marcus Nispel and stars Jason Momoa as the barbarian along with the cast that includes Rachel Nichols and supposedly Mickey Rourke playing the role of Conan’s father. If your memory needs to be refreshed as to who Khalar is, here’s the summary for you.:

Khalar Singh is in his 40s to 50s, Asian or Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Mongol, Turkish, or Persian, open to all ethnicities; commanding in size and manner, a warlord and formidable warrior, brilliant, cruel, weathered and tanned by the many campaigns he has waged and won. He is driven in his quest to find the Queen of Acheron and has been building an empire to do so.

His goal is to find the Queen whose blood will bring life to the demonic minions of Acheron while making himself king of this hellish power. With this power, Khalar will protect his legacy against the onslaught of master sorcerer, Thoth-Amon so that his weak son, Fariq may rule after his death. While riding into a Cimmerian village to recruit his old comrade, Corin, his large collection of mercenaries slaughters them to the last soul when Corin refuses to join them. The village’s only survivor was young Conan. When Khalar’s search has finally narrowed to the likely discovery of the queen at a monastery of female monks, he also learns Conan is older and hungry for revenge…

Lang to be in Conan?

That’s the rumor that’s flying about at the moment that Avatar actor Stephen Lang is being eyed at to be the main villain in the remake of Conan. Currently Lang does not have any other projects he’s caught up in filming at the moment, so it is a strong possibility that he could take on the role. It’s a mere matter of whether or not he wants to. Here’s a bit more of info in regards to his character from Latino Review
