Fans remember Mitchell and Bean starred in the first film.

Don Carmody Productions and Davis Films have released a new still from the film (pictured right).

The film is being directed by Michael Bassett (Solomon Kane), who also wrote the screenplay, and he had this to say about the casting additions. “It wouldn’t be the same without some of the original Silent Hill cast. Sean, Radha and Deborah’s return will certainly thrill fans of the franchise and compliment Revelations stars Adelaide and Kit.”

Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

No word on a release date yet.

The film follows Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father as they “have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand.

JoBlo reports that there is a high possibility that there could be a sequel to the 2006 video game adapted film Silent Hill. Special makeup effects man Paul Jones has this to say on the topic.:

“I was working on storyboards for that around the same time last year. It’s going to be pretty crazy. There’s a lot of cool stuff in there. Roger (Avary) has some awesome ideas and hopefully we’re going to bring that to fruition sometime next year.”

Roger Avary, the man just mentioned above, is the writer of the first Silent Hill movie and apparently the same for it’s sequel. No word yet on who is directing the feature, but the TriStar Pictures film is set to be released sometime in 2011. Video game adaptations have floundered within the past year but seem to be making a comeback. Not only is a Silent Hill sequel on the slab but so is the possbility of a long awaited Metal Gear Solid, a Castlevania feature and a Return to Castle Wolfenstein that is also being penned by Avary.

ShockTillYouDrop give out the latest scoop on none other than Silent Hill. There has been some speculation for awhile about the possibilities of a sequel to the video game adaptation, and special makeup fx man Paul Jones has this to say on it:

“I was working on storyboards for that around the same time last year,” Jones revealed. “It’s going to be pretty crazy. There’s a lot of cool stuff in there. Roger (Avary) has some awesome ideas and hopefully we’re going to bring that to fruition sometime next year.” He would not comment on whether the script was complete, but he said that with a smile.

With some easy snooping, Silent Hill 2 is slated on imdb to come out sometime in 2011. Since the film is still currently in development, or even more so a twinkle in a couple of people’s eyes, we will see whether or not it will come into ‘fruition’ like previously stated.

Do you think Silent Hill should get itself a movie sequel? Do you think that the video game adaptation should just stay as a video game? Let us know what you think.

The Hollywood Reporter reported a few days ago that Silent Hill 2 is back on track. The film is rumored to be prepped for shooting after Davis Films shoots Resident Evil 4 later this year.

Avary is best known for his award-winning work on Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, and is also penning video game adaptation Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Davis Films.

The original Silent Hill centered on a woman who travels to a town in West Virginia to seek help for her daughter, finding supernatural occurrences taking place there.

I was fairly impressed with the adaptation from game to movie. I’m rooting for more Pyramid Head. Anyone else?

News today comes from American Psycho and Glamorama author Bret Easton Ellis that Silent Hill may already have a director attached to the film’s sequel. For months now news about a sequel has been quiet, until now, when over at ChuckPalahnuk.net, Ellis was asked if Rules of Attraction director Roger Avery was still going to direct the adaptation to Glamorama and responded: ”He’s going to be shooting Silent Hill 2. As far as ‘Glamorama’, it’s just very hard to get the money to make it.“

This is actually the first the news has been mentioned, so whether Ellis is correct it would be exciting as Avery does have a great directorial style and may inject some needed validity to the overrated horror film.
