But that’s not until next week. Right now, The Playlist has new images from the film. Nothing really earth-shattering, but we do get another look at Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Colbie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill.

On where the Uncharted film is at: “The game is very cinematic; there’s no question about it. That’s what I’m working on real hard and I’m writing it as we speak and I’m really excited to make it. I’d love Mark to be in it, I’d love Bob De Niro to be in it; I love the idea of growing them into a cinematic family; I think that’s a really cool idea, but… I guess you’ll have to wait until you see the script.”

What he had to say on the character if Elena and who he wants to play her: “Ah, Elena. I’ve cultivated her quite a bit and I think I’ve added a lot of dimension to her so that’s all I’m going to say. I love the woman characters and the more robust they are, the more robust the movie. (On Amy Adams in the role) Oh I would love that too, I love Amy. I also love Scarlett Johansson; there’s a lot of great actors I think might suit. Hopefully, we’ll see how it works out with everybody who are being scoped to do that role…”

Would you like to see Amy Adams or Scarlett Johansson in the role or someone else? The film currently does not have a release date.

Sounds interesting to me, and I am curious to see Scarlett take on this role, as this is something quite different for her. The film is being helmed by Sexy Beast and Birth director Jonathan Glazer. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Faber, which Glazer has adapted with Walter Campbell. I have no doubt in these early stages we will hear a lot of Species comparisons. Considering the talent involved this could potentially be much different then that.

Luhrmann is also considering Natalie Portman, who seems to be one of the most wanted actresses after her performance in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. Luhrman is hoping to screen-test each actress with Leornardo DiCaprio over the next two weeks. Although, that may be difficult for some of the actresses who are shooting films overseas. No word on when filming is expected to begin, but you can expect to begin sometime next year.

Whedon told The Sunday Herald-Sun (via Moviehole) that Black Widow is the only Avenger, she isn’t the only female in the film. “It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger.  But she will not be the only female character”. Of course, it may be obvious that other female actors will star in the film, but Whedon may be hinting at is the inclusion of Pepper Pots (Gwenyth Paltrow),  Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), or more female members of S.H.I.E.L.D. Maybe even the possibility of a female villain as well.

Details on the story are still unknown, but Whedon does say it will be different from the comics in some areas.  ”It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles,” Whedon said. The film stars  Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L.Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. Production is scheduled to begin in February.

Heat Vision Blog reports that Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2), isn’t locked for the role, and is competing with Blake Lively (Green Lantern). The two have been screen-testing the past couple weeks, and a decision is expected in the next week or two. The role was originally written for Angelina Jolie, but she left after the project switched studios.

Gravity centers on astronauts repairing the Hubble telescope, who are then hit with satellite junk. The plot is similar to Cast Away, with a mother fighting her way to back to Earth, and re-unite with her daughter. Production is set to begin early next year, but it all depends on the availability of the actress.

The film is being talked about as being wildly ambitious. The opening scene is a single shot, 20 minute sequence. More so, the FX will be a challenge for the team, as Cuaron is embarking on a film that will rival Avatar (via Collider) in terms of CG. “In short,” says Framestore, the visual FX studio behind the film, “this is a hybrid of a fully animated, photo-real feature film with a blockbusting visual effects movie.”

Look for the film in an undated 2012 release.

Q: Spin-off movie for Black Widow?

Kevin Feige: Definitely possible. Yes, absolutely.

Natasha Romanoff is a prominent character within the Marvel universe, layers of comic book history behind her that start off in the early 60s. It would make a bit of sense for them to go and capitalize on a spin-off movie, especially since Scarlett Johansson is such a high profile name that could easily fill in seats. You can also factor in the fact that a couple of days ago Marvel announced that they wanted to do lower budget films with lesser known characters. Okay, so Black Widow won’t be a “lesser known character” once Iron Man 2 is released, but it’s still possible.

Then again, this is nothing but a guessing game, we won’t know whether or not it could come into fruition because that all depends on how Iron Man 2 does on May 7th and beyond. Would you want to see a Black Widow movie?
