We’ve already heard Robert Downey, Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) praise the film’s script (here), and he continues to do so while promoting Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows in Brazil. Not only does he contintue to say Iron Man 3 will be the “best of the three”, but “maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made.”

This sounds promising, especially after many were disappointed with the previou instalment. And hopefully we can get a taste of what to expect from the film soon.

Holmes is back in another extraordinary chapter that owns every second it spends on the silver screen. Robert Downey Jr. is once again kicking ass as the iconic Sherlock Holmes, and this time he pushes the character farther than in the previous film as he and his counterpart Dr. Watson (Jude Law) attempt to outwit the devilishly genius Professor Moriarty.

I’m extremely excited to say that Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is every bit as good as the first Holmes film. This time Holmes and Watson test the limits of their friendship, while following the clues left by Moriarty, who is doing his best to thrust Europe into war. Moriarty is the villain I’ve been waiting for. He is the perfect adversary for Holmes. Matching his wit, and finally giving Holmes a challenge fitting of his intellect. In general this film takes everything from the first film and ups the adrenaline factor. Guy Ritchie has really out done himself with this one.

It goes without saying that Robert Downey Jr. is fantastic in his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, but the rest of the cast is pretty amazing as well. For my money the standout performance of the movie goes to Jared Harris for his wickedly awesome Professor James Moriarty. He brought a charm to the role that has me hoping to see him in future sequels, providing it performs at the box office. Stephen Fry is another stellar actor that rocked the screen as Sherlock’s eccentric brother, Mycroft, who enjoys prancing around his house in the nude. Of course Jude Law made Watson cool, and the supporting cast was fantastic. However, the one performance that felt a little flat for me was that of Noomi Rapace as Madam Simza Heron. She’s sexy, and obviously does an adequate job, but compared to Rachel McAdams’ Irene Adler she’s as lackluster as pancakes without syrup.

I can’t wait to revisit this film on Blu-ray so I can obsess over every minute detail. I know this hyper active super Holmes isn’t for everyone, but I am totally enthralled by what Guy Ritchie and his team have accomplished with this franchise. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is absolutely a killer film.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

With Shane Black writing (and directing) Iron Man 3, many are hopeful this film will turn out to be alot better. Well, Robert Downey Jr. was interviewed by Extra (via Comic Book Movies), and gave his thoughts on the script. “Iron Man 3 is probably the best script I’ve read in five years, which is so funny. I mean, things have come so full circle that a genre superhero movie can actually be the most artistic bit of writing I read. But I think The Avengers is something a lot of the fans are really looking forward to, so I’m excited about that. The third Iron Man to me is an opportunity to go back to the kind of storytelling and character exploration that made the first one good,” he said.

Details on the script are being kept secret for right now, and the only thing we’ve heard about the film is that it will be different from the first two.

Although, it’s not surprising as the film is scheduled for release in May 2013, and would have to begin around this time to meet that date.

Details on the film are unknown, but we have heard that it will have a different atmosphere than the previous two.

The ship sunk in 12 minutes, with 300 men going down with the ship. However, the tragedy doesn’t end there, the remaining 880 men that went into the water were terrorized by sharks afterwards.

Well, that seems to be an excellent story for Hollywood as Heat Vision is reporting that Robert Downey, Jr. and Warner Bros. are in the midst of developing a film based upon the disaster. However, the film will be taking a different approach to the story, and follow “Hunter Scott, the 11-year old boy who embarked on a journey to exonerate the Indianapolis’ court-Martialed captain.” Robert Schenkkan is writing the script.

With all the excitement over Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, some may have forgotten that Iron Man 3 is currently being developed for a release in May 2013. We haven’t heard anything on the film recently, but Robert Downey Jr. was able to offer an update on the film to Schmoes Know (via Comic Book Movies):

One thing that many are probably wondering is what direction director Shane Black will be taking the film now that he’s replaced Jon Favreau. “We’re still in the early phases. Shane & Drew Pearce (second screenwriter) are working through the story outline & hopefully, at some point in August, Shane is going to start hammering keys & writing the script, but he has such a unique viewpoint on Tony Stark & I think his corky sensibility is going to be great for the series. It’s going to feel, like a reinvention of what it can be as opposed to continuing the saga,” he said. It’s also been said before the film won’t have as many references to The Avengers as Iron Man 2, but Downey never commented on that issue.

But what’s the one thing fans are interested in most when it concerns comic book movies? That’s right, the villains. While Downey couldn’t reveal the identity of the villains, but does guarantee fans will be happy with the choices. “I can’t talk about the villains right now, but what I can say is though that there’s been lot of analysis of looking through all of the villains that have been in the Iron Man world. All I say is, that I think the person or persons, that we’ve decided to play with are going to be pretty exciting for the audience,” he said. The Mandarin was the most popular choice by fans and Jon Favreau, but it’s unknown if Black will still want to go that route in the sequel. One thing he did mention in the past was that we won’t be seeing “two men in iron suits fighting each other”.
