Brown’s graphic novel, Nightfall.

Deadline Hollywood reports that the co-creator and director of Saw, James Wan will be directing the film. Wan came on board the moment he heard about the film’s concept. “The minute I heard the concept, I was in,” Wan said. He will also be overseeing the development of the script.

The novel centers on a man sent to a prison overrun with vampires. While it has a simple premise, Wan thinks it could turn out good if done right. “Reading the graphic novel cemented that. Like Saw, it’s a simple concept that, if executed properly, will be so cool,” he said. The film will be a co-production between Platinum Studios and Aurora productions.

This is the case once more as Meet the Haunteds, a story of a white family that moves in to a house haunted by black ghosts that have been there since the 1970s. Steve Carr is set to direct with his Rumpus Entertainment label attached to the picture.

Producing is Carr and Jason Taragan under Rumpus with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg under Platinum Studios. The graphic novel in question that’s already set for adaptation is not even published yet, that will not take place until sometime in 2011. Meet the Haunteds is written by Chris Wichtendahl and illustrated by Billy Penn (Variety).

Carr’s previous directing credits include Next Friday, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Daddy Day Care and Are We Done Yet?.

In the future, the world is reeling from an outbreak of vampirism. The vampires have an uneasy truce with humanity, but recently there’s been a new series of attacks from vampires in Russia in possession of nukes. The protagonist, Captain Ethan Cutter, must lead his elite commando unit behind enemy lines to bring an end to the blood nation before the vampires bring an end to the world.

Platinum Studios is currently got their arms wrapped around the production of the Jon Farveau directed feature Cowboys and Aliens. With the seemingly never-ending wave of comic book adapted features, is there any particular property that you would like to see appear on the big screen?

The graphic novel in question tells the story of a lottery that gives thrill-seekers a chance to vacation aboard a newly completed International Space Station. But the trips turns nightmarish after the station is damaged, trapping tourists in a crippled module with no trained astronauts to help them.

This graphic novel from Platinum Studios has already been set under Valhalla Motion Pictures for adapting the property for awhile now, but with the addition of Moore expect for this puppy to start chugging away. The two scribes adapting this property are Bryon Willinger and Phil De Blasi, says Production Weekly. Set to produce this feature is Gale Anne Hurd and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

When industrious, right-wing survivalist David Paxton is sent to a tough Texas prison, he has no idea that it’s secretly run by vampires using the inmates to feed on. Now, Paxton’s one hope of escape is a desperate prison riot and an uneasy alliance with a ruthless killer named Robbart. William Stuart and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg will produce.

It looks like plenty of studios are still willing to take advantage of the vampire craze in cinema. There’s tons of vampire properties that have fluttered about, the top of that being the sequel to the hit 2008 film Twilight which is called Twilight Saga: New Moon. There is also the CW’s attempt at a vampire drama with The Vampire Diaries, HBO’s novel-turned-television-series show True Blood and the futuristic but supernatural thriller The Daybreakers coming out this January to theaters.
