Instead he’s actually taking on the directing reigns for BBC Films’ Out the Window, a project being written by Iannucci, Roger Drew and The Thick of It writer Will Smith. There is no word on what the story is about, but BBC Films is already scheduling it for a 2011 release.

The films currently under BBC Films’ slate include the upcoming Stephen Frears directed feature Tamara Drewe. Another project recently announced by the company is Three Sixty, written by Peter Morgan. Another project that jumped onto the fast track is The Invisible Woman, based off the novel by Claire Tomalin, which is being put together by scribe Abi Morgan, says Variety.

So we’ve been going off for awhile about the development and pre-production of Bond 23, the Sam Mendes feature that was supposedly being penned by Frost/Nixon scribe Peter Morgan. There’s been rumors floating about in regards to casting, but it was kind of inevitable that the production would completely halt thanks to the constant financial struggle going on behind the scenes of MGM studios.

Here’s a bit more on this sudden announcement from EON Productions (via Coming Soon).:

“Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on ‘Bond 23′ indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of ‘Bond 23,’” stated Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli jointly.

Unless somebody scoops MGM out of the fire, there isn’t going to be any additions to this long-running franchise. At this point though, we can go into a different kind of train of though with the following question; Would you want to see another Bond film, or do you want the franchise to finally be done?

So the internet has been abuzz on and off for the past couple of weeks pertaining to who will end up filling the busty role of the next seductive Bond girl in Bond 23. First there was argument that Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto was going to slide into the role, but that quickly got pushed out. Olivia Wilde got tossed around the rumor circuit, but now the latest one to end up in the ring is The Brothers Bloom and The Lovely Bones actress Rachel Weisz.

Cinema Blend has more on the developing story, which a possibly cool decision story-wise if Weisz does sign up for the newest sequel.:

Our source says that’s exactly what they’re discussing behind the scenes of Bond 23. In fact, they’re considering Weisz to play the head of Quantum, the secret organization responsible for all the bad guy activity in the last two films. More than just another Bond babe, she’d be the mastermind pulling the strings behind everything that’s happened in Daniel Craig’s Bond movies so far, and the architect of James Bond’s suffering.

This is neither confirmed or denied by anybody, so once again we toss this into the rumor mill. Bond 23 at the moment will be directed by Sam Mendes with Peter Morgan writing the script, having Daniel Craig reprising the role once more as the charming and cunning James Bond.

If they went along with this story line, would you take it? Or would you rather somebody else fill the role or be the next Bond girl?

Earlier today there were reports from Yahoo UK and Film School Rejects stating that the Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto was going to be the next Bond girl in the Sam Mendes directed Bond 23 feature. That sounds like pretty solid casting, that is until AceShowbiz via The Film Stage both stated that Pinto has not been approached to take on the role but that Tron Legacy actress Olivia Wilde is to be the next Bond girl.

Here’s a bit of a description of the role that she’s supposed to take (unless this turns out being a big fat lie too).:

…a double-crossing UN worker based in Afghanistan.

At least one thing we know for sure, and that’s the return once more of Daniel Craig taking on the role of James Bond in the yet-to-be-really-titled Bond 23. Peter Morgan is making more touch-ups to the screen play with a November 18th, 2011 release date already set for the picture.

Instead of sitting on the tracks there already are murmurs of the film starting up initial filming in June of this year with a possible 2011 release date. Writing up the script is Peter Morgan along with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. There is no word yet on what exactly the latest movie will be called, but after the last one being called Quantum of Solace, at least we know they’re getting a tad bit more creative.

Writer Peter Morgan has been hard at work for the past few months on a draft of the new James Bond script, and for good reason. With mixed reviews on the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, there’s a lot to live up to. At the same time, when you have such scripts like The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The Damned United under your belt, one can gain a nice amount of hope over the fate of the newest Bond film. Morgan goes off briefly about the script to MI6, saying the following.:

“It’s a shocking story”, he said after admitting he couldn’t give anything more away. Being on the 007 team is a new experience for Morgan. “Bond creates a hysteria around it, one that I haven’t previous known”, he said. “It’s a magnet for publicity – everyone wants to know what’s going on with the new Bond”.

When your attached to write a script to a lucrative franchise that’s been spanning out through decades, its more like how could you not expect this kind of publicity. There is no director yet attached to the newest Bond movie but actor Daniel Craig is already signed on for this flick along with Judi Dench. The film is being produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

The actress is set to co-star with Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood’s latest film Hereafter. The Warner Bros picture centers around three people — a blue-collar American, a French journalist and a London school boy — who are touched by death in different ways (Variety).

The picture is penned up by Frost/Nixon writer Peter Morgan and is produced by Eastwood along with Robert Lorenz and Kathleen Kennedy. The DreamWorks SKG distributed picture is due out in theaters sometime of December of 2010. Bryce Dallas Howard can be seen in theaters soon starring in The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond and can be seen in the recently Blu-Ray and DVD released film Terminator: Salvation.
