Killer Film hit the press line where the members of the cast talked about Priest 3D. I will admit that I was cynical about the movie after it was converted to 3D, but the teaser trailer that premiered in Hall H silenced me and the hard to please Comic-Con crowd with flashfire imagery that rocked the house.

Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.”

The film opens May 13th, 2011 from Screen Gems.

The project revolves around employees of an investment bank during a tumultuous 24-hour period during the 2008 financial collapse. Set to direct the project is J.C. Chandor off the script he wrote. Neal Dodson, Zachary Quinto and Corey Moosa are attached to produce under Before the Door Productions. Principal photography commences next week in New York.

It’s been pretty quite acting-wise for Demi Moore within the past couple of years, but she’ll be appearing on the big screen once more hopefully this year in the Guy Moshe fantasy drama Bunraku.

The project revolves around employees of an investment bank during a tumultuous 24-hour period during the 2008 financial collapse. Baker will portray a ruthless, high-powered securities broker who oversees the characters played by Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci and Zachary Quinto and drives his colleagues to win by any means necessary. Bettany will play a top-tier trader, unabashedly unafraid of who he is even as the crisis deepens (THR).

Principal photography will begin at the start of next week in New York. Bettany will appear in theaters again next year in The Tourist and starring in the comic book adapted feature Priest. You can check out Baker on the small screen in CBS’s hit television show The Mentalist.

The Scott Stewart directed film centers on a priest (Paul Bettany) who disobeys church law to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece (Lily Collins). The cast also includes the talents of Stephen Moyer, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban and Christopher Plummer.

The feature is very loosely based off the comics created by Hyung Min-woo. Have you ever read the comics and what do you think of this upcoming adaptation?

The story revolves around Frank (Depp), an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise (Jolie) is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. The script is written by Julian Fellowes along with Christopher McQuarrie and Jeffrey Nachmanoff. Graham King is producing under his GK Films label with Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, Jonathan Glickman and Tim Headington.

The Tourist is poised for a 2011 release date under Columbia Pictures with Spyglass Entertainment and Studio Canal. Bettany recently has been lurking around the big screen for the past couple of months, first in the period piece The Young Victoria and then in the supernatural thriller feature Legion.

The film is directed by Scott Stewart with a cast that also includes Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q and Stephen Moyer. Entertainment Tonight and Bloody Disgusting give us a first look at the making of this supernatural comic book adaptation, set to be released under Screen Gems on January 14th, 2011.:

On the Origin of Species

Creation serves as a beautiful period piece with a good visual direction that evenly teeters back and forth between the struggle to write the book and to get past the grief of his daughter’s passing. Bettany dives head first into the role and proves to be the only person on the screen worth paying attention to, not purely because he’s playing Charles Darwin, but because he’s practically the only convincing one within the cast. He adds more layers to Darwin, who is already encompassed within the script that John Collee wrote, making you care more about the man behind the book as it slowly blossoms within the realms of his mind.

Jon Amiel tries to convey the visuals on camera to further bring along the story, but scenery can only do so much when you have something that is only satisfactory at the most. The prodution design is wonderfully put together but at the same time a little too distracting from the decent story line that easily can be derailed given the proper lighting and background distractions of the set.

Although the execution of the story of Charles Darwin prior to “On the Origin of Species” is done fine to an extent, in the end this film becomes another period piece that at times threatens to become something better than what it is, only to jump right back to where it was previously.
