Soo much that New Line is proposing a sequel to Seth Gordon’s Horrible Bosses. According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are returning to pen the sequel. The original stars are expected to return, along with Director Seth Gordon, but nothing has been finalized just yet.

It would be interesting to see where they go with the story. Perhaps we could see the bosses get revenge on them?

No details are known about the film just yet, but it seems that Chris Tucker could be making a return as well. The last film, Friday After Next, didn’t come anywhere close to the quality of the first two. Hopefully, they can recapture what the first two films created.

The film is said to be a “feel good populist story in the vein of Blind Side. It’s got more comedy to be sure, but it’s an earnest story,” according to Greenberg. Richard and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing the film with Jack Leslie, Donner’s Co. President. No word on who could direct or star in the film just yet.

Cook found that it was easy to find inpiration into Vikmanis’s life. “She is a 42-year-old in a sea of 20-year-olds; she’s definitely a fish in out of water. It’s a great contrast. And she proved you can reinvent yourself at any age,” Cook said. Vikmanis is a mother of two teenage daughters, who’s husband left her for a younger woman. She found inspiration at a Cincinnati Bengals game after her sister “suggested she find something to make her happy, and Vikmanis, who had been a dancer, looked to the field and said being a cheerleader looked like fun”. She failed to join the Ben-Gals squad with her first tryout, but came back and make the squad that following year. A phone conversation between Cook, Greenberg and Vikmanis convinced them to make a movie about her life.

Nothing has been heard about the film since then, and many were hoping the idea was scrapped. However, Producer Robert Tapert has told Freep that plans for a remake are still underway. “It’s possible; we’re looking at a script this month. What’s interesting about ‘Evil Dead’ is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. … I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience,” he said. Unfortunately, this means that Bruce Campbell will never again get to play Ash on the big screen once more.

The issue of where Peter Jackson will film The Hobbit has finally been resolved. The recent boycott by the SGA was keeping led to an ongoing feud between the New Zealand government and the studio, who were threatening to move the sets to another location. Executives from Warner Bros. came down to New Zealand yesterday, and began meeting with the Prime Minister John Key about the problem.

3 News now reports that an deal has been made, and that filming will stay in New Zealand. “I’m please to announce an agreement has been reached between the New Zealand Government and Warner Brothers to enable the two Hobbit movies to be directed by Sir Peter Jackson, to be made New Zealand” he said. This will allow numerous workers, who have already built sets. Prime Ministers Key is also hoping the country will get the same attention it received after the epic success of Jackson’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy. “Making the two movies here will not only safe guard work for thousands of New Zealanders but will also allow us to follow the success of the Lord of The Rings trilogy and once again promoting New Zealand on the world stage”, he said.

The feud with the New Zealand government has weakened Jackson’s and WB’s faith in the country, but will be making special arrangements for the studio. “We will be moving to ensure that New Zealand law in this area is settled to give film producers like Warner Brothers the confidence they need to produce their movies in this country”, Prime Minister Key said. Key also mentions that New Zealand has been set to host the world premiere of The Hobbit when finished in 2012 and 2013. “I’m very pleased that we have been able to ensure that the winning combination of Sir Peter Jackson, New Line, Warner Bros, MGM and New Zealand as a whole will have the opportunity to produce these movies together”, he said. It’s good this has finally been resolved, and we can move forward with more casting for production to begin next February.

One of those many problems was that the director’s chair was left vacant after Guiilermo del Toro resigned due to the ongoing delays, which left fans disappointed. However, that disappointed didn’t last long as Peter Jackson was begin tapped to direct the films.

A source tells the New York Times that a deal has made been with Jackson that would allow him to direct the films. The deal isn’t official just yet, and he’ll only agree to direct if production begins soon. With filming scheduled to begin in mid-January, a deal is looking very likely. Jackson has been the fans and the studio’s favorite since del Toro left, but Jackson has repeatedly said he would only take the job if there was absolutely no alternative.

While fans will be happy to hear that Jackson will be directing, they may not like the news that both films will be shot in 3D. A 3D release was something del Toro has denied, and was apparently confirmed at Comic-Con back in July. Del Toro has said that 2D technology was right for the films, but given the popularity of 3D, it shouldn’t be a surprise the studios changed their minds. One thing is for sure, the amount of money these films will make will put MGM back on the map. The executives from either MGM or Warner Bros. have yet to comment on this news, but an announcement is expected sometime next week.

The Hobbit, Part I is scheduled for a release in December of 2012.

Development on The Hobbit has faced many obstacles over the last couple years. The films have been delayed due to recent financial problems at MGM, which forced Guillermo del Toro to back out of directing. More problems surfaced when The International Federation of Actors have threatened to boycott recently.

However, sources tell the LA Times that the films may actually be getting an official green-light soon. Of course, these sources remained anonymous as they weren’t allowed to speak of the matter publicly. The article also seems to confirm that Peter Jackson has been finalized as the director, and resolved most of the problems delaying development. The only issue yet to be fixed is getting the go-ahead from MGM, which is currently working out a deal with Spyglass Entertainment that will restructure the studio.

Warner Bros. and New Line are ready to submit their money to co-finance the films, and have been waiting on MGM to re-organize themselves, and fix their financial problems. However, MGM negotiations between the studios has been weak as they’re still reaching an agreement among their debt holders. Each studio is eager to make the films, and an official green-light may happen in the next few days. Production is estimated to cost around $500 million, and MGM still has yet to submit it’s half of the money. One possibility that has been mention was to have WB or outside investors loan MGM the money for more distribution rights. All problems are expected to fixed in order for production to begin in mid-January as scheduled, with a release in December of 2012 for the first film.

It was almost looking as if things were looking good for The Hobbit. The films have had nothing except but bad luck for last couple years, and with things turning around for MGM, it was thought the movie was actually going to happen. However, the International Federation of Actors (FIA) have begun to boycott the movie, and instructed all actors to turn down roles in the film.

According to The Telegraph, this will include Ian Mckellen (Gandalf), Cate Blanchet, and Andy Serkis (Gollum) as well. All three were up for roles in the film. It’s unknown what role Blanchet was offered, but it’s quite obvious Serkis and McKellen would be reprising their respective roles. McKellen has already said that if production doesn’t begin soon, he wouldn’t be able to return as Gandalf (here), which could upset fans even more.

However, the studios involved in production (WB, New Line Cinema, and MGM) have issued a statement (via Variety) this boycott is against New Zealand law. “The fact remains that there cannot be any collective bargaining with MEAA on this New Zealand production, for to do so would expose the production to liability and sanctions under New Zealand law”, they told the press. The studios also aren’t going to wait, and are threatening to move production to a different location. “It is our general policy to avoid filming in locations where there is potential for work force uncertainty or other forms of instability. As such, we are exploring all alternative options in order to protect our business interests,” they said.

Sets are reportedly already built in New Zealand, and are just waiting for the green-light. Changing locations would be costly, but it looks like they’re at the point where they will do anything to get the films made. Each studio also denies these films are a non-union, and they have bargaining agreements in place. So far this hasn’t changed the scheduled start date in January.
