Vignettes appear for Youth in Revolt

It’s January, so that means that this dull month of films is out in full force. However, this is not the case for this year. With films like The Book of Eli, Daybreakers and Youth in Revolt, there could be hope. The one were clearly focusing on in this article is the Miguel Arteta directed Youth in Revolt which stars the soft-voiced Michael Cera.

While his trailer trash parents teeter on the edge of divorce, Nick Twisp (Michael Cera) sets his sights on dream girl Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday), hoping that she’ll be the one to take away his virginity. Galifianakis Revolts it up

Who doesn’t love Zach Galifianakis after his performance in The Hangover? Since I am not a fan of Michael Cera, other than the postings I normally would have to do for an upcoming movie I for the most part have ignored who else is on the cast list for the film Youth in Revolt. I smack my hand in shame, not knowing that Galifianakis was in the movie as the supposed love interest for Nick’s (Cera) mother Estelle Twisp, played by Jean Smart. Just as awesome is Steve Buscemi as Cera’s father, George Twisp.

The cast keeps on shaping up to look better and better as Sigourney Weaver, John C. Reilly and Alia Shawkat attach themselves to “Cedar Rapids”. The Phil Johnston penned script is being directed by “Youth in Revolt” director Miguel Arteta. The story is about a sad-sack insurance agent who goes to an industry convention to try and save the jobs of his colleagues (Variety). Already attached to be in the picture is Anne Heche and Ed Helms.

Shawkat wrapped up acting for Floria Sigismondi’s “The Runaways” and can still be seen on the big screen in the Drew Barrymore directed film “Whip It”. Sigourney Weaver will be seen in James Cameron’s new move “Avatar” and John C. Reilly can also be seen in “Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant”.

Heche is going to the Rapids

“Hung” actress Anne Heche is co-starring alongside Ed Helms in the comedy “Cedar Rapids”. This film centers on a sad-sack insurance agent (Helms) who goes to an industry convention to try to save the jobs of his colleagues. Heche portrays a woman who befriends him (Variety). Miguel Arteta is directing this Fox Searchlight comedy script penned by “Ghosts/Aliens” writer Phil Johnston.

Heche is attached to more than one new project, recently latching onto the Will Ferrell comedy “The Other Guys”. Arteta has his pushed back dramedy Michael Cera film “Youth in Revolt” coming out January 8th of 2010.

Michael Cera nabs the lead in the adaptation of C.D. Payne‘s hilarious novel Youth In Revolt, directed by Miguel Arteta of Chuck and Buck/The Good Girl fame. It is this film that has the biggest potential to get Cera out of doing the same performance in his films, to one that may actually require more depth and angst as the character of Nick Twasp, who has to deal with the classic foils of most adolescents such as rebellion, divorce, virginity and alternate personalities as defense mechanism.
