Screen writer Marc Klein is the latest to be attached to the Universal Pictures musical In the Heights. Yes, the title is familiar for a reason, since this feature is based off of the Tony award winning Broadway musical In the Heights created by Lin-Manuel Miranda based off the book by Quiara Alegria Hudes. The story explores three days in the characters’ lives in the New York City Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights.

The film will likely contain most of the stage musical’s numbers as well as one new song written specifically for the bigscreen, says Variety. Hudes was originally tapped to pen the big screen version of the musical, but Universal’s interest floated over to Klein after they saw what kind of stuff he was conjuring up (like the comedy TMI). Lin-Manuel Miranda will be producing the picture with Meryl Poster.

Reynolds and Faris give TMI

Universal Pictures is latching onto their latest comedy project called TMI. The upcoming feature they just grabbed onto will star Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris. Scripted by Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Marc Klein, the comic premise is that while honesty is the best policy for a relationship, “too much information” might not be the best thing (Variety).

The film will be produced by Andrew Panay and Johnathon Komack Martin. The release date for this film is still unknown, but could possibly be out sometime in 2010. Currently Reynolds is attached to star in The Green Lantern along with another comic book movie called Deadpool, a spinoff of the summer 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
