Four more find their Descendants

Matthew Lillard, Beau Bridges, Judy Greer and Robert Forster are all signing up to be part of Alexander Payne’s latest directed feature The Descendants. The film already stars George Clooney as a land baron with his two daughters who set out on a mission to keep their family together after his wife suffers from a boating accident off of Wakiki (THR). The script is written by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon based from the novel of the same name written by Kaui Hart Hemmings.

Payne is producing along with Jim Burke and Jim Taylor. Filming is expected to start up a week from today in Hawaii with a yet to be announced release date that’s expected to be set for sometime in 2011 under Fox Searchlight Pictures. Clooney just finished wrapping up his lead role as Jack in the Anton Corbijn directed thriller The American, slated to come out on September 1rst of this year.

Woodley becomes a Descendant

Shailene Woodley is the latest to latch onto the new Alexander Payne directed project called The Descendant. The story revolves around an attorney, to be played by George Clooney, who is forced to get closer to his daughters after a family tragedy (Variety). Woodley will be playing the oldest daughter in the feature written by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon. The picture is actually based on a novel that’s written by Kaui Hart Hemmings that was published in 2008.

Payne’s previous directed work includes About Schmidt and the popular 2004 feature Sideways. Not only is he in the midst of pre-production work for The Descendants but he’s also announced to be attached to direct the novel adaptation of Fork in the Road.

Clooney could be a Descendant

George Clooney is in the middle of negotiations for Alexander Payne’s most recent project “The Descendants”. The Academy Award winning actor is eyeballing the lead role in yet another novel adaptation by Kaui Hart Hemmings. The story centers on a wealthy landowner who takes his two daughters on a search for his wife’s lover in the hopes of keeping his family together (Variety). Penning the screenplay is Nat Faxon and Jim Rash who co-wrote on the short lived TV show”Adopted”.

Payne and “Cedar Rapids” producer Jim Taylor are both producing the feature. Clooney is in the middle of promoting several films that he’s starring in this fall including “Up in the Air“, “The Men Who Stare at Goats” and “The Fantastic Mr. Fox“.
