Henry’s Crime is an interesting film. What makes it interesting is it answers the question, “What would it be like if the Coen Brothers ever made a bad movie?”

Keanu Reeves plays Henry, a regular joe, who has a nice easy life. One day while at home with his wife Debbie (Judy Greer), he gets a visit from a friend.Eddie Vibes (Fisher Stevens) comes to Henry’s house and tells him that they need another guy to play on their softball team for the day. Joe (Danny Hoch) is on the front lawn throwing up. Joe is brought into the house and Henry and Eddie take off. Eddie tells Henry to stop as he needs to make a run to the bank. Within seconds the alarm sounds and Henry, who’s still in the car, is arrested. Obviously he didn’t know what was going on and the police give him the chance to rat on Eddie. He doesn’t and goes to jail. In jail he meets Max Saltzman (James Caan) who is a career criminal. One day while in jail Debbie visits Henry and tells him that she’s leaving him since she met someone.

3 years pass and Henry is let out on parole. While out walking, Henry is almost hit by a car and this is where we meet Julie Ivanova (Vera Farmiga). After this confrontation, Henry seems to fall for Julie. As he tries to court her at her job of working on a stage play, he decides that since he went to jail for robbing a bank, even though he didn’t rob the back, that he is really going to rob the bank to get back at them. Got that? Good. Max likes it in jail since it’s the easy life, but Henry talks him into doing well on his probation hearing so he can be released and help him in his heist. The theater where Julie is performing is right next to the bank and there is a tunnel connecting the two. Max comes up with a plan for Henry to join the play so they have access to the tunnel to break in to the bank.

Along the way Eddie and Joe make it back in to the fold to help out with the heist. The movie is easy to follow, but gets really silly. Henry, who doesn’t have acting experience is supposed to join the play as a lead character, even though the group have been rehearsing for a while now. Julie learns everything that Henry has planned after he tells her, but doesn’t seen to be fazed by it. The story gets convoluted and there are things that are just dumb that happen. It’s not a very good movie and you’d expect more from a film starring Caan and Farmiga. Keanu is in his comfort zone here since he doesn’t have to do a lot of acting. The running time 108 minutes, and while the beginning seems to move at a nice pace, the film overall feels like it’s longer than that. Like I stated at the start, this is what a Coen Brothers movie would be like if they made a bad film. It tries to be quirky like Raising Arizona, but it just falls flat.

The Blu-Ray:

Audio/Video

The audio came in loud and clear, and the video looked fine as well, except for a few scenes with crushed blacks.

Special Features

There are no extras. There is no making of, no interviews, no commentaries. The only thing on here are trailers for movies coming soon. This is as bare bones as a disc can get.

The Flick: Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

The DVD: Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

The feature includes the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Ron Perlman, Emma Stone and Jeremy Piven with the flesh and blood performances from Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy.

For Phil and Debbie Winslow, moving their family from Kansas to the O.C. is a big deal. For their enormous Great Dane “Marmaduke” (Wilson), however, the move means a whole new way of life. It’s chaos at home and awkward at work as the Winslows struggle to control their angsty teenage canine.

Yes people, that is the actual synopsis (believe it or not). Need further proof? Then watch the trailer below for the film. The Tom Dey directed film is expected to be released on June 4th in theaters everywhere from Twentieth Century Fox.:
