War of the Gods goes to Immortals

Every once in awhile a title will get switched over to something else entirely, confusing the hell out of people who were following the project up to that point. This is one of those cases as Relativity Media’s War of the Gods turns into Immortals. Prior to that, War of the Gods was titled Dawn of War, so you will only hope that they finally settle on this latest title in order to clear any sort of further confusion that may arise just from a simple title.

The script by Vlas and Charley Parlapanides follows the mythological tale of the young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind (CS!). Those already part of the cast for the feature include Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto, Henry Cavill, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans with new additions Isabel Lucas and John Hurt.

Directed by Tarsem Singh, the Universal Pictures film is already going through principal photography with a set November 11th, 2011 release date.

Walking into Waska

A couple of actors are making their way into the independent drama Waska. Kate Walsh and Jeremy Piven are joining up on the Gaby Dellal directed picture. Walsh and Piven both join up on the big cast that includes Thomas Dekker, Mira Sorvino, Elizabeth McGovern, Joseph Morgan and Lynn Collens. Story centers on a young father who loses his son, throwing the community into disarray at the time of Waska — the first snowfall of the year, which is magical but often treacherous (Variety).

Filming is currently underway with a possible late 2010 to early 2011 release date. Walsh will be appearing in the fantasy thriller Legion that will be out January 22nd. Jeremy Piven is going back into the voice acting chair as he lends it to the animation and live action hybrid film Marmaduke. If Jeremy Piven is possibly headlining so-to-speak this comedy this reporter really won’t expect much from this one trick pony of an actor.
