The film centers on an extraterrestrial species lands in Arizona in the mid-1800s. The aliens plan to squash the Wild West and enslave humanity, but thecowboys and native Apache have other plans. Those already part of the cast include Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano and Noah Ringer.

Principal photography is beginning this summer in time to make their July 29th, 2011 release date from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks SKG. Recently Beach was seen in the lastest season for the hit HBO series Big Love and wrapped up filming his role in Michael F. Sears’ Warrior.

” ‘Iron Man 3,’ to pay it off, there’s so much left to understand about what the world is going to be like then,” the filmmaker reasoned. “You’ve got ‘Thor,’ ‘Captain America,’ ‘Avengers’ all happening with different directors before ‘Iron Man 3,’ and that’s all going to affect ‘Iron Man 3.’

“You’ve got to do the Mandarin,” Favreau said of the next “Iron Man” baddie, a martial-arts expert who has superhuman powers that can tear apart Iron Man’s suit with his bare hands. “The problem with the Mandarin is that the way it’s depicted in the comic books, you don’t want to see that.

“He has 10 magical rings — that just doesn’t feel right for our [franchise],” the director reasoned. “So it’s either tech-based, or the rings are not really rings. But maybe with Thor and all those others, you’ll introduce magic to that world and it won’t seem so out of place.”

The Mandarin appeared in the Marvel universe as a Chinese government official who fell from his positioning only to get greedy and discover a magical power within ten rings. He continued on to try and achieve world dominance only to be thwarted by the likes of Iron Man and others.

Iron Man 2 is out in theaters and IMAX, so go and check it out if you have not already. When it pertains to the Mandarin, who would you like to see play him in the next Iron Man movie?

Who dared to open the same weekend as Marvel’s latest feature film creation? Why Focus Features’ Babies, which cried itself into $1.5 Million overall. Babies does has a mass appeal due to the overall cuteness and other such reasonings, but it would’ve taken more than a bunch of infants in order to take in more money against a mammoth like Iron Man 2.

A Nightmare on Elm Street did the typical drop, making $9.1 Million in it’s second place slot from the overall weekend. Of course that does not sound really impressive but when you figure that the budget is made back and then some, it’ll be no surprise that another sequel can crop out of this ongoing franchise. All because Iron Man 2 is out in theaters does not mean that the summer season is towards a close, it’s barely getting started. Within the selection of wide releases the movie gods give us Robin Hood, Letters to Juliet and Just Wright. In the limited openings there is Princess Kaiulani.

The story, based off the comic created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, is set in Silver City, Arizona, where Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city. Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens (Heat Vision Blog). Daniel Craig heads the cast that includes Noah Ringer, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford.

Cowboys and Aliens is set to begin principal photography this June with a July 29th, 2011 release date from DreamWorks SKG and Universal Pictures. Check out Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer in the Marvel Studios sequel Iron Man 2 coming out in theaters and IMAX this Friday.

In the future, the world is reeling from an outbreak of vampirism. The vampires have an uneasy truce with humanity, but recently there’s been a new series of attacks from vampires in Russia in possession of nukes. The protagonist, Captain Ethan Cutter, must lead his elite commando unit behind enemy lines to bring an end to the blood nation before the vampires bring an end to the world.

Platinum Studios is currently got their arms wrapped around the production of the Jon Farveau directed feature Cowboys and Aliens. With the seemingly never-ending wave of comic book adapted features, is there any particular property that you would like to see appear on the big screen?

“Well we have, there are a lot of featurettes.  We were running cameras behind the scenes all the time.  We don’t like to really like to show too much of it before the movie comes out to keep some surprises, but everything was very well documented.”

“And as you can see, we have a very interesting group of people.  And so, between the interviews, you get s really good sense, we’re fans of these movies.  Kevin and I are always swapping back and forth books and things about the movies that we grew up loving.”

“And so we documented very well so there is going to be pretty extensive featurettes and then commentary this time around and also deleted scenes that we thought would be interesting for people to see.  So it’s more a movie fan set of extras, people who really want to immerse themselves.”

Iron Man 2 will hit theaters on May 7, 2010.

“They’ve asked me to be an Executive Producer on ‘The Avengers’ so I’ll be there to help as much as the director would want me to. ‘Iron Man 3′ is years down the road, and that has to reflect the reality of what’s been established not just in ‘Iron Man 1 and 2,’ but in movie time, between this film and that film, is ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ ‘Thor,’ ‘Captain America,’ and ‘The Avengers.’ I haven’t had to inherit anybody else’s backstory yet–it’s just simply what we chose to use or not use from the comic books–so I’m feeling like I’m passing the baton and after all those movies are done, it’s time to sit down and discuss if there’s something I can bring to it, if it’s something we want to do together, but that’s way down the road.”

Iron Man 2 will be released in theaters on May 7, 2010.

“I read his script and you know, the man is known for his tough writing. He wrote Conan and Dirty Harry and Apocalypse Now, and it’ll be interesting to see how he works behind the camera. I’m playing Genghis.

“John wrote as a piece told from the son and grandson’s point of view, how they saw this mythic figure from their family. You see him in flashbacks, back when he was in his mid-40s. And back then, being in your mid-40s was being REALLY old.”

There’s going to be some archery from horseback called for that I have to do, so that’ll be interesting, physically. I’ve got some very good stunt people that I work with almost exclusively. Garrett Warren and Mark Colburnwill be with me.

“It’ll be a fascinating experience, maybe shooting in parts of India, they tell me, and China. I’ve never worked in either of those countries, so that’ll be new.

Mickey Rourke is appearing this May 7th as the vicious Whiplash in the Jon Farveau directed sequel Iron Man 2. Principal photography is already underway for the Tarsem Singh Greek mythological-based feature Immortals, poised to come out in theaters on November 11th, 2011.

The adaptation stars the talents of Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johannson and Sam Rockwell. Iron Man 2 comes out in theaters and IMAX on May 7th.:

The Last Airbender

No word yet on when filming will begin, but it should be fairly soon judging from the plain fact that Cowboys and Aliens is slated for release on July 29th, 2011 from DreamWorks SKG and Universal Pictures. The picture is penned by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman along with co-writer Damon Lindelof, a trio that actually is announced to be penning the next Star Trek movie.

Who exactly is this person, you might be asking, and what significance does she have in the Marvel universe? Janet van Dkye is the daughter of a wealthy scientist who ends up getting killed at the hands of said alien monster. Due to her connections, she is friends with Dr. Henry Pym aka Ant-Man who helped her gain her wings and powers to become the Wasp, one of the founding members of the Avengers.

Iron Man 2 flies into theaters this May 7th and in IMAX from Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures.

“You want to be sure you don’t suffer from multi-villainitis,” Favreau said. “That’s been the downfall of many other superhero franchises.”

“I was more concerned about the interpersonal dynamic and how the presence of Natasha [a.k.a. the Black Widow, played by Johansson] would affect Tony and Pepper, because what I didn’t want to do is make this film episodic, like just another episode of a TV series. So one way to approach that is shift the dynamic with the introduction of new characters. So you have Justin Hammer [Rockwell] inserted into the Tony-Rhodey relationship, and you have Natasha Romanoff inserted into the Tony-Pepper relationship. When done right, a superhero movie has the character’s personal life mirroring what’s happening in their superhero world, and sometimes you have to force things to do it. In this case, I’d say, we found an organic way to do it. We wanted both A-story and B-story to be affected by these new characters.”

Favreau didn’t name which franchises he was referring to, but it’s safe to assume he was thinking of Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 and Joel Schumacher’s Batman films. It’s comments like these that show me Jon Favreau knows how to make a good film.
