Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Jean Claude Van Damme will re-team with Dolph Lundgren to star in Universal Soldier 4 in 3-D:

“The muscles from Brussels will star with his regular sparring partner Dolph Lundgren in Universal Soldier IV. Mark Damon’s Foresight is selling this action flick, which starts shooting in October.”

John Hyams, who directed last year’s reboot Universal Soldier: Regeneration, will be directing once again. This will be the third time that Lundgren and Van Damme starred together in the series.

I’m not sure why Jean-Claude Van Damme decided against doing the All-Star action ensemble The Expendables, but he did find a way to re-team with Dolph Lungren again with another sequel to Roland Emmerich’s 1992 film Universal Soldier.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on February 2, 2010.

Synopsis: The militant Islamist Chechen Basayev abducts the children of the President and takes control of Chernobyl, threatening to unleash a radioactive cloud unless his demands are met. Luc Deveraux (Van Damme), now a Universal Soldier again, joins a new team of UniSols secretly held in deep storage. Their mission is to retake Chernobyl and disable explosives that will unleash radioactive clouds. Luc discovers that one of the reactivated Universal Soldiers is a clone of his old, homicidal Sergeant, Andrew Scott (Lundgren). He also must face the NGU, the next generation in the UniSol biotechnology.
