Thor 2 looking to get a new director and writer

With Thor 2 slated for release in November 2013, Marvel isn’t wasting anytime replacing Patty Jenkins as director, who left the project last week (here). Sources are now telling The Hollywood Reporter that Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan are being looked at as potential replacements. One thing that would make both names excellent choices is they both directed episodes of Game of Thrones. However, Marvel is already notorious for being control freaks when it comes to their projects, but hopefully Thor 2 isn’t a repeat of Iron Man 2.

Speaking of creativity, Marvel is also in the process of hiring a new screenwriter for the sequel, and was right in the middle of the proccess when Jenkins left. Among those being considered were John Collee, Robert Rodat, and Roger Avary. This film is said to feature alot of more the Nine Realms this time around, but those are the only details right now.

First trailer out for Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole

Director Zack Snyder goes CGI-animation on us with the new trailer for his latest film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. The story is based off the novels written by Kathryn Lasky and was penned for the big screen by John Collee and John Orloff. The voice cast includes the talents of Jim Sturgess, Emilie de Ravin, Hugo Weaving, Geoffrey Rush, Helen Mirren and Sam Neill.

Soren (Sturgess), a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole flies into theaters everywhere on September 24th from Warner Bros and Village Roadshow Pictures. Watch the first official trailer below for the film presented by Yahoo! Movies.:

THR reports that Hugo Weaving, Geoffrey Rush, David Wenham and Sam Neill will all be lending their voice to the animated Zack Snyder directed film Guardians of Ga’hoole. Penning the script is John Orloff and John Collee with Zareh Nalbandian producing under Animal Logic.

The story centers on Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s. Already on the voice cast is Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Jay Laga’aia, Helen Mirren, Emily Barclay, Ryan Kwanten and Miriam Margoyles. The movie will be released in theaters in the U.S. on September 24th, 2010.
