When a movie stars Mark Zuckerberg, Tom Haverford, Kenny Powers and Terry Bernadino the gay, rollerskating prostitute, chances are you are going to get something that is pretty memorable. 30 Minutes or Less is that film, and it’s certainly something that will ingrain itself in your brain.

30 Minutes or Less tells the story of 2 sets of friends. The first is a 20-something slacker who delivers pizza, Nick (Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Zuckerberg of The Social Network) and his friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari, Tom Haveford of Parks & Recreations). Chet is a teacher and on his way in life, but Nick just wants to hang out and play video games and watch action movies. The other set of friends are lazy Dwayne (Danny McBride, Kenny Powers of Eastbound & Down) and his somewhat simple minded, yet incredibly good with explosives, friend Travis (Nick Swardson, Terry Bernadino of Reno 911!). Dwayne and Travis bandy about all day, but when they aren’t watching Friday the 13th in 3D or blowing up watermelons with explosives made by Travis, they are cleaning Dwayne’s dad’s pool. Dwayne’s dad, The Major (fantastic character actor Fred Ward), a former Marine major, has recently won the lotto, but it doesn’t make him any less hard on his son. After pushing Dwayne too much one time, Dwayne decides to kill his dad and take the rest of lotto money and open a tanning salon/prostitution ring. While getting a lap dance, Dwayne is told by the dancer, Juicy, that she knows someone that can do the deed for $100,000. Dwayne doesn’t have that kind of money, but he figures he can get someone to rob a bank for him because that’s “what rich people would do.” They wouldn’t get their hands dirty, but they’d have someone rob the bank for them.

While Dwayne and Travis come up with their foolproof plan (key part of the word being fool), Nick and Chet have a falling out when it’s revealed that Nick slept with Chet’s twin sister and Chet broke up Nick’s parent’s marriage. After their fight, Nick goes to his pizza delivery job. Dwayne and Travis are watching TV and see a commercial for a local pizza restaurant that guarantees delivery in 30 minutes or less, hence the title of the film, and they decide they found out how to get the person who will rob the bank for them. Nick just happens to be the one delivering the pizza to the hideout of Dwayne and Travis, who are wearing monkey masks. They knock him out and when Nick comes to, he has a bomb strapped to his chest. The amateur crooks tell Nick he has 10 hours to rob a bank for $100,000 or they will blow him up. They tell him they will be following him, so if he goes to the cops, they’ll cut their loses and blow him up. Nick leaves frantically and goes the only place he knows, to see Chet, who’s teaching. After some persuading, Chet decides to help Nick out.

The rest of the movie has some great scenes of mistaken identity, bank robbery and a super great payoff. One thing that really sets this movie above typical action-comedies of the past is the chemistry of the actors. Swardson and McBride are great together as the bumbling crooks and Eisenberg and Ansari play off each other so perfectly. Speaking of Ansari, it’s safe to say that this is going to be his breakout role. Fans of Parks & Recreations know how funny this guy can be, but now it’s time for the rest of the world to jump on his bandwagon, and after this movie is seen by everyone (like it should be), that bandwagon is going to be pretty heavy. The comedy here is a laugh a minute and Ruben Fleisher (Zombieland) does a great job directing. At a running time of only 83 minutes, the pace is fast and there isn’t a dull moment to be had. Keep a look out for the very funny Michael Pena as the killer for hire.

This summer has been a great this year for R-rated comedies with Bridemaids and Horrible Bosses, and you can certainly add this to the list or great, summer comedies.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

The film’s been sitting around unreleased for a while, but as seen on the cover art, it co-stars Jesse Eisenberg, the new go to guy in Hollywood thanks to the Oscar-baiting The Social Network.

Camp Hope is a place where Christian children come together to share and study their faith. Deep in the woods and far from distraction, they learn how to better serve their maker and the perils of tangling with the Devil. Unfortunately their charismatic leader unknowingly leads them into a world of evil, and the nightmare begins, as each child’s body soon becomes possessed by something evil.

George Van Buskirk directs with Dana Delany and Bruce Davison actually starring.

It would seem obvious that a film based upon the founding of the site would be advertised there, right? Apparently not. Facebook is ironically not allowing any advertising for the film.

All Things Digital is reporting the guidelines for advertising on Facebook don’t allow ads that reference the company unless Facebook cooperates. This was the response that Steve Elzer, SVP of Media Relations for Sony (SNE) movie unit Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group gave to a BoomTown query. This could also be a response from the founder of the site, Co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who isn’t happy about the way he was portrayed. Elliot Schrage, PR agent for Facebook, confirmed they won’t be taking any money for the film.

The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Rashida Jones, Joseph Mazzello, Justin Timberlake, Brenda Song, Rooney Mara, Max Minghella, Andrew Garfield. Scott Rudin, Kevin Spacey, and Michael De Luca will be producing. Aaron Sorkin wrote the screenplay based upon the novel by Ben Mezrich. David Fincher will direct.

The Social Network opens on October 1, 2010.

Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland, Zombieland) plays Sam Gold, striking pay dirt by smuggling ecstasy from Amsterdam. Who would ever suspect a young Jew in traditional dress as a drug mule? The plot of Holy Rollers sounds more like a fantasy Albert Brooks might churn out.

The orthodox community in New York is extremely tight-knit. Gold works for his father in the garment district, prays often at home and at Temple, and courts a girl at arms-length on his parents’ couch. Exuding awkwardness, Sam makes another Jew, Woody Allen, look like a smooth operator. Enter Justin Bartha (National Treasure films and The Hangover) as Yosef, a fallen-away Jew who tempts Gold with women, cars, independence, and lucre. The running leitmotif of the film: Man’s fall from grace as the dialogue of God and Adam in the Garden of Eden is recounted three times. Gold’s fall includes several comic sequences. Alone in a seedy hotel room, he furtively checks out topless tennis players, evening soft-core porn in Holland. In another, when an exotic blonde attempts to give him a cocktail to relax, you have never seen one from tribe of Judah backpedal so fast.

Director Kevin Asch captures Sam’s Dante-like descent into hell with the somber red lights of the Netherworld club. After he takes X for the first time, Sam wanders aimlessly, reminiscent of Catch-22’s Yossarian, searching for salvation as a mournful sax and piano play in the background. Predictably Sam cuts off his peyos (those curly sideburns) as he breaks from his family (Cue Yentl). As the film tumbles forward toward its inevitable denouement, Gold’s innocence-turned-naiveté wears thin. Rapper Q-Tip’s brief role as Netherlandian drug dealer is wasted. In the 1970′s the Scottish Bay City Rollers made “Saturday Night” their anthem, touting dancing and partying; this Holy Roller, on the other hand, would have been better off spending Saturday night with his parents at Temple.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

The picture, directed by Kevin Asch, is inspired by a true story of a young Hasidic man who was lured into the world of international drug trafficking in the late 90s. The flick stars Jesse Eisenberg and includes the talents of Justin Bartha, Ari Graynor and Q-Tip.

The feature screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, so it was just merely a matter of time until this picture with it’s hint of star power got picked up. Holy Rollers is poised to come out sometime in the summer, no exact release date has been disclosed as of yet.

Believing the “genre really lends itself to [3-D], and convinced – via what we’re hearing and seeing of “Avatar” – the technology is now there. Fleischer’s very keen to throw a few zombie gizzards in our direction. “Dead” cool, right!?

(As for where the sequel will be set, Fleischer didn’t say, but when we chatted to Woody Harrelson a few weeks back he said he’d like to see it either set in Paris… or on Broadway. Assuming it’ll be none of those locations– but somewhere just as surprising).

So when will “Zombieland 3D” happen? Whenever “we crack it”, says the filmmaker, indicating that they haven’t decided on the storyline yet.

Rumor has it that a majority of the cast is possibly willing to sign back on. That means that Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin would all be re-teaming up for the sequel. Do you think that it’d be a pretty damn good idea not only to have a sequel to this but also for it to be in blood gushing 3D?
