Second Trailer appears for Schmucks

Who doesn’t like Paul Rudd and Steve Carell? Well, you can get yet another dose of the two of them as they share the big screen in the new trailer of Jay Roach’s Dinner for Schmucks.

Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon.

Dinner for Schmucks comes out on July 23rd in theaters everywhere from Paramount Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment and DreamWorks SKG. Watch the new trailer below (via JoBlo) and let us know what you think.:

Not only are we presented with the first official trailer for Jay Roach’s Dinner for Schmucks, but we also get an extremely up close poster from /Film. The cast includes the likes of Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Zach Galifianakis and Lucy Punch, just to name a few.

The story is centered on Tim (Rudd), a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon. Austin Powers to the 4th degree

Jay Roach danced around the notion of still putting together Austin Powers 4 when he talked to Latino Review about it all. Here’s what the director said on it.:

“[Star Mike Myers is] working on ideas for it, people are definitely talking about it and I’m all good for it,” Roach said matter-of-factly. “I love those characters.”

The Bond-parodying secret agent has faced off against his nemesis, Dr. Evil, in a variety of locations. Including the moon. And a hilarious new villain, Goldmember, was introduced in the last movie. So how will a fourth “Austin Powers” top all of that? Where could Austin — the series and the character both — go next? “That’s hard to say,” Roach replied. “Somewhere you haven’t thought of.”

Might it be a little too late to go and try to do one more for this franchise? It stands as a trilogy alone with the last feature, Austin Powers in Goldmember, that came out all the way in 2002. Then again, since it’s a parody version on the James Bond films it can be just as never-ending as that franchise.

Roach can find the time to go and put it together, especially with the fact that his latest directorial piece Dinner for Schmucks is in the middle of post-production. The Jay Roach directed comedy Dinner For Schmucks is well underway as MTV Movies Blog gives us an exclusive first look at the feature. Starring the likes of Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis and Steve Carell, the story is about an extraordinarily stupid man possesses the ability to ruin the life of anyone who spends more than a few minutes in his company. Keitel joins the Little Fockers

THR reports that actor Harvey Keitel will be the newest addition to the cast of the Paul Weitz film Little Fockers. Keitel joins a cast that includes Ben Stiller, Laura Dern, Jessica Alba, Owen Wilson and many others. The Universal Pictures and Tribeca Productions comedy feature centers on the Focker couple welcoming their first kids into the family. Keitel will play the role of a contractor hired by Stiller’s character. Producing the film will be Jay Roach and Jane Rosenthal.

This feature is in the middle of filming, and Little Fockers will come out in theaters on July 30, 2010. Keitel is also appearing in Wrong Turn at Tahoe which has a to be announced 2010 release date.

Livingston goes to Roach’s Dinner

Ron Livingston is teaming up with director Jay Roach in his new comedy “Dinner for Schmucks”. Pic is an adaptation of the Francis Veber-helmed French film “Le dinner de cons,” in which a group of bourgeois friends regularly invite the biggest schmucks to dinner to ridicule them (Variety). Livingston pairs up with a cast that consists of Steve Carrell, Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd and David Walliams.

Livingston previously acted in “The Time Traveler’s Wife” and the new Drew Barrymore movie “Going the Distance”. Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing with the film under Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks SKG and Spyglass Entertainment.

Dern teaches some Fockers

Laura Dern is the latest actress to be attached to the upcoming Paul Weitz movie “Little Fockers”. Dern will be playing headmistress of the elementary school that the Fockers’ kids attend (THR). She is one of many that are within the cast, the most recent addition being actress Jessica Alba. A majority of the main cast from the sequel “Meet the Fockers” is back for the third film which includes Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Barbara Streisand and Robert De Niro just to name a few.

The Tribeca Productions and Universal Pictures film is being produced by Jay Roach and Jane Rosenthal who both produced the first two features in this series. Paul Weitz has been keeping himself busy prior to “Little Fockers”. His most recent cinematic work is “Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant”, written and directed by him, which appears in theaters on October 23rd.

Greenwood and Walliams are Schmucks

Actors Bruce Greewood (Star Trek) and David Walliams (Little Britain USA) are joining the cast for the new Jay Roach comedy “Dinner for Schmucks”. Already on the cast are the talents of actors Zach Galifianakis, Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd. Walliams plays a Swiss banker that Tim Conrad (Rudd) and his Fender Financial cohorts hope to impress as a potential investor. Greenwood plays the role of the billionaire, Fender (Variety).

Jay Roach is producing along with Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald under Dreamworks SKG. Roach at the moment is producing the newest “Meet the Parents” sequel, “Little Fockers”. Greenwood just recently acted in the 2009 drama “Mao’s Last Dancer”.

Jim Carrey loves the Beaver!

It now appears that with Steve Carrell having a fall out with Meet the Parents director Jay Roach, as he is now leaving the The Beaver, which was one of the scripts on last year’s black list. The Beaver tells the story of a man who wears a beaver puppet on his hand and treats it as being alive as his own companion, sort of akin to Lars and the Real Girl. No one now is attached to direct the film now after the creative differences, but Jim Carrey is now looking to star in the film with Jodie Foster possibly directing the film.
