M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender is getting a lot of hype and publicity right now, and why not? It looks like an actual summer movie blockbuster within the same degree as Iron Man 2 for us this season. We just all hope that it actually is once we see it. The folks over at erc Box Office spilled the beans that the Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures film is tucking itself into a July 1rst release date instead of it’s original July 2nd slot. The fantasy tale now holds a hefty challenge in it’s hand, and that’s basically the task of trying to defeat The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which opens one day before Airbender.

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.

Girls Power the Twi-Hard Phenomena

For many years the world of fandom seemed to be a boys club. We always assumed that we were the only ones who put posters up in our bedrooms, went to midnight showings, and hit the convention scene to talk shop and meet the people we idolized from the silver screen.

Those days are a thing of the past, and I can tell you exactly when the winds of change started. It was with one movie. A box-office smash from a famous director known for making horror films, starring a cast of attractive twenty-somethings. The flick is Scream, a reinvention of the slasher wheel that was marketed toward the fangirls as much as it was for the fanboys. Gone were the days when a genre-type film was advertised with daring artwork. Now it was about the poster having more of a Vanity Fair look, a more glamorous touch to them. There is no arguing that this strategy worked in spades, as Hollywood struck oil with a old selling point for a new generation. Today’s advertising is about grappling your attention with a hot young actor who is going to be starring in the film.

Money talks, as the Kevin Williamson penned project made well over one hundred million dollars in domestic ticket sales. The floodgates opened and every young star wanted to be in the next big thing. Jennifer Love Hewitt in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Josh Hartnett in The Faculty, and Katie Holmes in Disturbing Behavior are prime examples.

Incredible things can happen when you find that magic in a bottle that is a great story with an attractive cast. The new millennium has found this potent formula again in the film versions of Stephanie Meyer’s best selling novels that have touched the pop culture zeitgeist like nothing I have seen before. Was this what it was like when The Beatles invaded America in the 1960′s?

Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment came to Los Angeles, California for three days of all things Twilight. I’ve have been to many of these kinds of events, and aside from Comic-Con, I have never seen such a huge auditorium full of hardcore fans. The room was wide open and from left to right; it looked like the setting for a small concert. It was appropriate because the stars of this series are like rock gods to these girls.

I will be the first to admit that I am not the demographic for the Twilight films, but I can really appreciate the magnitude of what the franchise has accomplished, especially in the economic times that we live in.

New Last Airbender Teaser masters all the elements

Since the MTV Movie Awards are going on, it’s no surprise that we get a fairly decent flood of trailers for upcoming summer films. Among them is a new piece for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.

The feature also stars Cliff Curtis and Dev Patel. It’s set to come out in theaters (and in 3D) everywhere on July 2nd from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Studios. Check out the new exclusive piece from MTV below.:

Showing off the elements in new Last Airbender clips

Not only are we showing you the brand new Japanese trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, but we get two new behind-the-scenes featurettes on the film from Reelz Channel. Along with that, you can see a couple of new individual international posters that look pretty sweet.

The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

The Last Airbender involves the talents of Noah Ringer, Cliff Curtis, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz. The Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures film flies into theaters on July 2nd.:

Battle-filled new international poster for The Last Airbender

M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender is one of the so-called tent pole films of the summer season, so it’s expected to see a bunch of new posters crop up for the upcoming feature. Aang (Noah Ringer) shows off his cool symbol and powers in the brand new international poster.

The Last Airbender stars Noah Ringer along with Cliff Curtis, Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz and Dev Patel. The script is written by Shyamalan and based off the series from Nickelodeon.

The Last Airbender comes out in theaters and presented in 3D on July 2nd from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.:

Coming Soon has two new character posters for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. The film is about Aang (Noah Ringer), who is the last hope to stop the Fire Nation for control over the other nations. Along his journey, Aang is accompanied by Katara (Nicola Peltz), her brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone) to restore peace to the war-torn world.

The Last Airbender will hit theaters on July 2, 2010.

New TV spot for The Last Airbender

M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender is getting quite a load of publicity for many reasons. First, it can all be due to the pure name of Shyamalan, the fact that the Nickelodeon cartoon turned live action feature has such a following and just because it looks like a promising summer movie. Regardless, this television spot appeared during the Winter Olympics a couple of days ago. Now, thanks to Coming Soon, were able to take another sneak peek at the flick.

The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations. The feature stars Noah Ringer along with Cliff Curtis, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz. The Last Airbender comes out in theaters, from Paramount Pictures, on July 2nd.:

Based off of the popular Nickelodeon children’s television show, the story follows the adventures of Aang (Noah Ringer), a long successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air Nations.

The feature also stars Cliff Curtis, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel and Nicola Peltz. Check out the super awesome and action packed teaser trailer below from UGO. Surprising enough, this trailer makes me some what excited for the movie.:

Also included in the cast is Cliff Curtis, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone and quite a few others.

Right down below we have two brand new character banners from Yahoo! Movies on the upcoming movie. The one in the orange-ish tint is Curtis as Firelord Ozai, with the one in blue being Ringer as our hero Aang. The Last Airbender comes out from Paramount Pictures in theaters on July 2nd.:

Clive Barker’s Dread Trailer

Over the last couple years there has been a boom in stories from the legendary mind of Clive Barker that are finally hitting the big screen. Midnight Meat Train and Book of Blood were the first out of the gate, and nows comes the psychological horror of Dread, filmmaker Anthony DiBlasi’s adaption that is part of the After Dark Horrorfest 4. Read here for when and where you can see it because this looks like the best of this year’s lot.

Synopsis: Stephen and Cheryl are college students making a documentary about what people dread in life. But they have no idea that their partner Quaid, witnessed his parents being murdered by an axe-wielding lunatic and wants to make others experience his own personal horror.

The three set out to document people revealing their life’s most terrifying moments. But Quaid quickly grows bored with mere interviews and decides to take the study to a much more visceral level, causing all three to become vulnerable as they reveal their fears in front of the camera. Just as Stephen and Cheryl realize they have partnered with a madman, they also find themselves subjects of the hideous experiment they brought to life… learning more about fear and dread than any human mind can stand.

Another couple of pictures from the M. Night Shyamalan written and directed feature The Last Airbender have emerged from Empire magazine. The director hopes to finally recover fragments of his already broken career and give it a kick start to the new decade with the big screen adaptation of the popular animated Nickelodeon television series.

The story follows the adventures of Aang (Noah Ringer), a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.
