Cameron notes that he “fully intends” to use this technology for Avatar 2 and 3, and is scheduled to offer a demonstration sometime later today. DreamWorks Animation CEO Katzenberg mentions this will be a “quantum leap” in film-making. Animators usually have to wait days to see their works, but this will allow “be able to see and create their work in real time. I can’t tell you how transformative that will be for our storytelling. … That is an extraordinary and revolutionary change in the process,” Katzenberg said.

We follow the story of Megamind, the most brilliant supervillain the world has ever known – and the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as “Metro Man.” The super hero movie as know it will never be the same again.”

Megamind will be released in 3-D, IMAX 3-D, and 2-D on November 5, 2011.

The story, written by Glenn Berger and Jonathan Abiel, centres on Po’s search for other pandas and his run-in with a group of bandits. Oldman voices the character of Lord Shen (a peacock), the film’s formidable new villain while Yeoh brings to life the mystical character of The Soothsayer (a goat). Van Damme and Garber round out the cast as Master Croc and Master Thundering Rhino, respectively (Rope of Silicon).

Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, directed by Jennifer Yuh, is set for a June 3rd, 2011 release.

The other major release of this weekend is the SNL skit turned feature MacGruber, which is not doing too well for itself given the fact that it’s only accumulated $1.6 Million on Friday. There’s a lot of high guesstimates for Shrek The Final Chapter, ranging from 70 to well over 100 Million for the weekend, but we’ll just have to see about that.

“Kaboom” is a 3D sequel to the successful 2008 film about the panda Po. The story centres on Po’s search for other pandas and his run-in with a group of bandits. Oldman voices a character named Peacock who helps Po find the bandits but is more than he seems.(Heat Vision Blog).

Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom is written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger with Melissa Cobb producing. The latest notch in the DreamWorks Animation belt comes out in theaters on June 3rd, 2011. Oldman recently appeared alongside Denzel Washington in the post-apocalyptic tale The Book of Eli, set to come out on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 15th.

The Mike Mitchell directed film stars the voice talents of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews and Walt Dohrn. Shrek The Final Chapter is set to come out in theaters and in 3D on May 21rst.

We plan to release the sequel theatrically in 2013,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation. “3D continues to have a tremendous impact on the industry at large and we are now looking forward with great anticipation to bringing ‘Shrek Forever After,’ the final chapter in our beloved ‘Shrek’ series and the first in 3D, to audiences across the globe next month.”

How to Train Your Dragon, directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, is still out in theaters and in 3D for all to see. Check your local theater show times if you want to catch another peek of Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) and the gang on the big screen while you still can.

If your into all things Cheech and Chong, you’ll be happy to know that on 4/20 their newest movie Cheech and Chong’s Hey Watch This is released in limited theaters. On this upcoming Friday there are the two big wide releases of The Losers and The Back-Up Plan. Within the realm of limited for that Friday is Paper Man, A Shine of Rainbows, In My Sleep and the Austin release of Best Worst Movie, set to expand in theaters in New York on May 14th and Los Angeles on May 21rst.

DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon managed to stay strong with $25.3 Million, again not much of a surprise considering it’s the only real animated kids movie out there for families to still flock to. Speaking of family-friendly films, the novel adapted feature Diary of a Wimpy Kid is still holding out a little bit as it takes $4 Million, making it’s grand total domestically of $53.7 Million (in contrast to it’s mere $15 Million dollar budget).

The very positive word of mouth finally paid off for the MGM comedy Hot Tub Time Machine as it’s intake of $5.4 Million, managing to make the Steve Pink directed flick hit the $36 Million mark (which is the same cost as the budget).
