Over the years the movie industry has taught us many great life lessons to help us grow and ultimately achieve that Utopian society. First Blood taught us that you can prevail without the need to kill everything in your path, while Rambo taught us that justice can only be delivered from a million rounds of a mounted mini-gun. And if Pirates of the Caribbean taught us anything it was that pirating is totally awesome, while Pirates of the Caribbean 3 taught us that pirating is a colossal waste of time.

It is now apparent that we must stop treating the movie industry like it’s a little baby. A whiny adolescent with a full diaper stopped being cute a long time ago. If you keep feeding it, you’ll keep getting… well, you know what. So if the industry wants us to stop stealing their movies, then they should start making films we actually want to pay for.

Ah, good ol’ l33t 5p3ak… such a simpler time. Long before the plight of texting abbreviations, and eons ahead of the dreaded lol-speak. A simple concept really. Devise a way to bypass word filters on the internet through an ingenious method of superimposing numbers in place of the letters that look like them. Brilliant! It would have taken the best code breakers in the world to figure out what the elusive “pr0n” code could possibly stand for. Now no one will be able to stand in the way of hackers, and their goal of global dirty-word expressionism and flaming.

That being said, there is also an excessive amount of “honesty” on the internet these days, yet I fail to see this enlightenment manifest itself outside of the digital world. I have a strange inkling that this same honesty is actually just a person’s impulsive thought before it goes through their mind’s “reasonability” filter. Think of it like Tourette Syndrome… people who lack the innate ability to filter their speech and actions prior to expressing them to others. Yet for some reason people seem to retain this ability where they type before they think. I’m not sure how this physically works, but apparently our motor skills have become so advanced, they simply bypass the conscious thought process. If that’s not evolution at its finest, I don’t know what is.

Why is it that the intern is so abused in nearly every portrayal? Is the abuse they incur in the real world a direct result of the entertainment industry’s insistence on their status as nobodies who get the coffee and be quiet? That is certainly the reason I treat an intern as someone who does my work for free. No matter. If movies have taught me anything it is that the intern and their kind, the general underdogs of society, will consistently overcome the odds, climb the ladder, and make a name for themselves all while getting the coffee.

Fear not the drudgery, interns of the world. In every task there is a lesson to be learned, a jewel to be recovered from some sunken ship. For every Storm in X-Men 3 you survive there is a renewed passion and appreciation for things in life that are decidedly not Storms. Develop the skill to walk away, happier that a dark moment in your life has passed and you’re on your way up.

Few people start at the top and while Spiderman 3 may not be at the top, it isn’t too far from the bottom.

The idea of being able to skip the boring parts of your life (such as boring movies) sounds much more enticing.

P.S. If you really love time travel, here’s a place to lose a couple hours http://www.mjyoung.net/time/index.htm

As for Inglorious Basterds, I don’t know what to expect, other than that it will be out exactly a week later. Here’s to hoping it is worth the possible rips in the time space continuum that will result in the world of Behind the Scenes.
