Adam starts going to a psychiatrist to help him through everything. It wasn’t his own doing, though, as his doctor suggested this. His psychiatrist, Kathrine (Anna Kendrick), is still working on her doctorate ad Adam is her third patient. She tries to help him by doing everything by the book, but Adam just gets more frustrated. Also in Adam’s life are his mother, Diane (Anjelica Huston) and his father, Richard (Serge Houde) who is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Diane wants to help take care of Adam as well, but he keeps pushing her away. He has an “at arms length” relationship with his mother. He doesn’t like to tell her things (it takes him 2 days to tell her about his cancer) and doesn’t like her helping him out. Kyle is there for his friend, but it’s seen right away that Kyle is using his friend’s sickness to hook up with women. He wants to bring Adam out to bars and clubs and have him tell women he has cancer to get sympathy for him. He doesn’t seem like a great friend, but by the end we see the truth about Kyle. Rachel, who seems great at first, has another side to her.

The marketing for this movie really failed. It made it seem like another Seth Rogen stoner comedy, when in fact it was a drama with elements of comedy within. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gave an amazing performance here and for the whole second half of the movie I was in tears. Seth Rogen played a typical Seth Rogen part, but there’s a good reason for this. The movie was based on the life of Will Reiser, the write, who is friends with Rogen and he was playing himself, while Gordon-Levitt played Reiser. Anjelica Houston was great in her role and both Dallas Howard and Kendrick were fantastic as well. Also, keep a look out for great character actors Matt Frewer and Philip Baker Hall as cancer patients that Adam meets while going through chemotherapy.

The movie really does something that most movies about cancer seem to forget. Most movies are very cold, while there is a lot of heart here. The directing, from Jonathan Levin (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, The Wackness), is superb. The scene where Adam first finds out about his cancer was shot so perfectly. The writing is wonderful and the acting is magnificent. Gordon-Levitt caries the movie and proves that he is ready for the big time and that he should be allowed to carry more movies in the future. This is one movie that is a can’t and shouldn’t miss.

Inspired by a true story, 50/50 is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humor in unlikely places. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis in this new comedy directed by Jonathan Levine from a script by Will Reiser. 50/50 is the story of a guy’s transformative and, yes, sometimes funny journey to health – drawing its emotional core from Will Reiser’s own experience with cancer and reminding us that friendship and love, no matter what bizarre turns they take, are the greatest healers.

XAVIER SAMUEL

Australian actor Xavier Samuel’s character, Riley, is certainly one to watch. He has a large role in Eclipse; one that directly impacts the lead characters. How did he learn more about his character and really get into his head? He got a copy of Stephenie Meyer’s novella, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, from director David Slade.

“I felt like I’d been given this really valuable document,” Samuel said. “It fleshes out those characters and gave insight into particularly the Riley/Victoria relationship that is not necessarily present in the saga.”

He undoubtedly got into the evilness of his character.

“There’s a lot of competition for who’s the most evil, isn’t there? I had a lot of conversations with David Slade about how to approach Riley and not delve into the clichés. We touched upon that he’s still got human blood pumping through his veins. He’s kind of a tragic figure in a way, and he’s been manipulated to a certain extent. He has this extreme hatred of humanity because that’s what he’s been deprived of. But he also has a heart,” he said.

Perhaps in this case, evil has never looked so good.

BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD

Much was said about the recasting of Bryce Dallas Howard in the role of Victoria. Rachelle LeFevre played the character in the first two movies and became a fan favorite.

“I was intimidated going into it for a variety of reasons, but I felt so lucky to get to know this group of people,” Howard said.

But, as a fan she was truly excited about the opportunity. Especially working with Pattinson. In fact, she took extra caution during their fight scenes.

“There was a lot of fight training to prepare for it because, yeah, actors are always nervous about not only hurting each other but maybe perhaps hitting each other’s face. There was a lot of preparation that made us feel more comfortable,” she said. “I just knew that if I rustled his hair, perhaps millions of young women would want to kill me, so I was quite cautious for that reason.”

It’s probably good that she was.

JULIA JONES

Julia Jones is now a member of the boy’s club. At least as far as the wolfpack goes. She plays Leah Clearwater, the only female member of the Quileute tribe who can change into a werewolf.

Was she intimidated to work with all these macho men and join the cast of something this famous? Absolutely.

“I was terrified. You’re a part of something that means something to so many people,” Jones said.

But she didn’t need to worry. The actors who play the other werewolves welcomed her with open arms.

“It feels like home. It feels like family,” she said.

It was a suggestion from a fan that inspired Jones to audition for the role. As this friend read Meyer’s saga, she told Jones that she kept picturing her in the role of Leah. When the opportunity came about, Jones knew she had to give it a shot.

And it’s a good thing she did. While her work in Eclipse might be brief, audiences are sure to see more of her character in the two films for Breaking Dawn.

If cast, Lowell will take on the role of Skeeter’s (Emma Stone) boyfriend, Stuart Whitworth, a senator’s son who eventually breaks up with her because of the book (THR). This will be Tate Taylor’s feature film directorial debut with Michael Barnathan, Chris Columbus and Mark Radcliffe producing under 1492 Pictures. Principal photography is set to commence this summer in Mississippi.

Lowell currently takes on the role of William ‘Dell’ Parker in the popular television series Private Practice.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is inching away towards it’s release date, June 30th is a lot closer than most people think. In the third installment of what many believe to be one of the best novels in the series, Bella (Stewart) not only has to face the wrath of Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) and a legion of vampires but also must choose between Edward (Pattinson) and Jacob (Lautner).
