While at Cinemacon, Collider was able to get a photo for a promo poster for Bill Condon’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen, and Dakota Fanning.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I opens on November 18th.

Twilight star joins LOL

Twilight series regular, Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen has signed on to the film LOL, which stars Miley Cyrus. The film seems like Mean Girls, as Greene will play the nemesis to Cyrus in the current age of Facebook and Youtube, according to Deadline. Lisa Azuelos is writing and directing, with Demi Moore also cast in the film. Shooting begins later in July.

Girls Power the Twi-Hard Phenomena

For many years the world of fandom seemed to be a boys club. We always assumed that we were the only ones who put posters up in our bedrooms, went to midnight showings, and hit the convention scene to talk shop and meet the people we idolized from the silver screen.

Those days are a thing of the past, and I can tell you exactly when the winds of change started. It was with one movie. A box-office smash from a famous director known for making horror films, starring a cast of attractive twenty-somethings. The flick is Scream, a reinvention of the slasher wheel that was marketed toward the fangirls as much as it was for the fanboys. Gone were the days when a genre-type film was advertised with daring artwork. Now it was about the poster having more of a Vanity Fair look, a more glamorous touch to them. There is no arguing that this strategy worked in spades, as Hollywood struck oil with a old selling point for a new generation. Today’s advertising is about grappling your attention with a hot young actor who is going to be starring in the film.

Money talks, as the Kevin Williamson penned project made well over one hundred million dollars in domestic ticket sales. The floodgates opened and every young star wanted to be in the next big thing. Jennifer Love Hewitt in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Josh Hartnett in The Faculty, and Katie Holmes in Disturbing Behavior are prime examples.

Incredible things can happen when you find that magic in a bottle that is a great story with an attractive cast. The new millennium has found this potent formula again in the film versions of Stephanie Meyer’s best selling novels that have touched the pop culture zeitgeist like nothing I have seen before. Was this what it was like when The Beatles invaded America in the 1960′s?

Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment came to Los Angeles, California for three days of all things Twilight. I’ve have been to many of these kinds of events, and aside from Comic-Con, I have never seen such a huge auditorium full of hardcore fans. The room was wide open and from left to right; it looked like the setting for a small concert. It was appropriate because the stars of this series are like rock gods to these girls.

I will be the first to admit that I am not the demographic for the Twilight films, but I can really appreciate the magnitude of what the franchise has accomplished, especially in the economic times that we live in.

First trailer out for Skateland

The upcoming Anthony Burns directed story Skateland presents to us all a brand new trailer. The story, written by Burns along with Heath and Brandon Freeman is set in the early 1980s, in small-town Texas, where dramatic events force a 19-year-old skating rink manager to look at his life in a very new way.

With a cast that includes Shiloh Fernandez and Ashley Greene, Skateland comes out in theaters later on in 2010. Watch the new trailer below (via Collider).:

Emma Roberts joins Scream 4

Dimension Films and The Weinstein Company scoops up another promising actress as Emma Roberts is the latest addition to the cast of Wes Craven’s Scream 4. She’s the newest piece to the casting puzzle as she takes over the role that Ashley Greene was originally going to play. The rest of the cast includes Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Hadyen Panettiere, Lake Bell and Rory Culkin.

Scream 4 returns to Woodsboro, the home of Sidney Prescott (Campbell), and Roberts will play a role similar to Campbell’s star-turning one in the original, says EW. Kevin Williamson’s script is still very much unknown, but all we can do is hope that it’s going to be pretty good. Williamson is producing along with Iya Labunka.

Principal photography is poised to start on June 28th with a set April 15th, 2011 release date. Roberts recently appeared as part of the all-star cast for the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, which you can rent or buy on DVD.

Lutz and Greene sign onto Breaking Dawn

There’s been rumors swirling about for the past week about casting for Breaking Dawn, the final two-part film in the Twilight franchise. With supporting actors like Ashley Greene wanting to squeeze out more money for the final films, a wave of uncertainty filled the air as to whether or not some would return.

Today THR Esq reports that actors Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene are officially signed on for the two-part finale, they get $1.25 Million each. With principal photography starting late in the summer, everything is going in motion for the Summit Entertainment film in order to reach their release dates for 2011.

The third film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, comes out in theaters and IMAX on June 30th.

Will some Twilight actors get the boot?

Before you start panicking, don’t you worry about the main characters. Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson are locked in for the two-part finale Breaking Dawn being directed by Bill Condon. That’s not the case for everyone unfortunately, especially with actors Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz, who have become quite the names for themselves thanks to the boost of the popular series. Salary negotiations have been preventing certain actors, including those two, from coming back for the final installments of the series. If Summit Entertainment can’t get a set number with supporting actors, they will end up having no choice but to recast, which won’t go very well for some Twi-hards.

THR Esq is also throwing to us the notion that Summit is eyeing to cut the cost for Breaking Dawn by condensing it into one feature, despite how much material is in the Stephanie Meyer novel. They’ve already got a release date locked for November 18th, 2011, so they’ll have to get into production fairly quickly if they want to make the deadline.

For all of those who adore the Twilight series, would you mind seeing some of the Cullen family get recast, or would that be something that would tick you off to no end?

Silverstone jumps into Butter

Not literally, don’t you worry. Instead Alicia Silverstone is signing up to play Jill Emmet, the adoptive mother of Destiny in Butter from Vandalia Films and Michael De Luca Productions, says Production Weekly. The script by Jason A. Micallef centers on an adopted girl who discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman in their town’s annual contest. The Jim Field Smith directed feature stars the talents of Yara Shahidi, Ashley Greene and Rob Corddry.

Silverstone is best known for her acting work in the nineties in several films which include The Crush, Clueless and the dreadful Batman & Robin. She’s been part of many films since then, like Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed and Beauty Shop, but appears to be gradually building herself back up into bigger and better roles since that hiccup of a comic book adapted feature. Silverstone is part of the cast in the Women in Trouble spinoff/sequel Elektra Luxx which stars Carla Gugino. She’s also acting alongside Siguorney Weaver and Krysten Ritter in Vamps.

Butter is already filming this week in Louisiana with a yet to be announced release date for The Weinstein Company feature.

Greene throws herself onto Butter

Twilight star Ashley Greene is still making sure the people know that she can do more than play a pale faced psychic vampire as she joins the cast of Jim Field Smith’s Butter. Greene will play a rebellious high school teenager named Kaitlen Pickler, says the Risky Business Blog. The Jason A. Micallef written picture is about an adopted girl who discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman in their town’s annual contest. Jennifer Garner will be producing the picture under Vandalia Films along with Michael De Luca from his Michael De Luca Productions banner.

Those already part of the cast for this comedy include Rob Corddry, Kate Hudson and Jim Carrey. Principal photography is ready to start up next week in Louisiana with a 2012 release date already stamped onto the picture. If you want to see Greene in non-Twilight flicks, keep an eye out for her in several films this year which include Skateland, Warrior and Radio Free Albemuth whenever they finally get a solid release here in the states. If you’d rather see her as Alice Cullen, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse comes out in theaters and IMAX on June 30th.

Greene is looking for an Apparition

Ashley Greene, better known for her acting in the “Twilight” movies, is in negotiations to star in “The Apparition”. Variety reports that the story, inspired by true events, centers on a young couple haunted by a supernatural presence unleashed during a college experiment. Running along the same vein of “Paranormal Activity” and “The Fourth Kind”, Dark Castle Entertainment possibly is striking while the iron is hot within this sub genre of sorts with horror movies. Joel Silver is producing under Dark Castle and joining along with that is Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona.

This project will be written and directed by Todd Lincoln who is also a producer for this film. Dark Castle Entertainment is currently attached to the upcoming released film “Ninja Assassin” along with new projects such as “Unknown White Male” and “The Losers” which is in the middle of filming. Greene will be seen in the second installment of the “Twilight” series entitled “Twilight Saga: New Moon” as Alice Cullen.

The New Moon never ends

It would appear that the constant marketing for “Twilight Saga: New Moon” is never ending, especially the past few days when a slew of pictures and clips have arose. Now there’s a brand new clip from the upcoming sequel that you can watch here on Fandango. Even though this Fandango clip here is just yet another teaser trailer to tantalize fangirls, this is nothing compared to the next clip that’s popped up.

A brand new clip of the Volturi interacting/fighting with Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Alice (Ashley Greene) can be seen here on Yahoo! movies. “Twilight Saga: New Moon” bolts out into theaters on November 20th, so if you want to catch a midnight showing go on Fandango because tickets are selling fast. Eclipse Officially Begins Production

Summit Entertainment announced today that it has begun principal photography for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It is filming on location in Vancouver, BC.

The film will be directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy) from a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will continue their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black, respectively. The film will include some new faces, including Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria, Xavier Samuel as Riley, Catalina Sandino Moreno as Maria, Jack Huston as Royce King, Julia Jones as Leah, BooBoo Stewart as Seth and Jodell Ferland as Bree. Also returning as the Cullen family are Ashley Greene as Alice, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Kellan Lutz as Emmett, Nikki Reed as Rosalie and Jackson Rathbone as Jasper. Billy Burke will also return as Charlie Swan. Eclipse brings back members of the Quileute Indian Nation; classmates of Bella and Edward; and the Volturi, the legendary group of vampires who weigh and impose laws of the vampire world.

Eclipse‘s plot, according to Summit Entertainment: “Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.”

Eclipse is the third installment of The Twilight Saga based on Stephanie Meyer‘s book series. Theatrical release for Eclipse is set for June 30, 2010.
