Top 10 Films With Better Performances Than Twilight

Oh yes, the second to last Twilight film is upon us, it was inevitable that this week’s list be themed towards the franchise. It is no secret I believe the books and films to be an abomination on society, much like say The Jersey Shore is. But in all seriousness, despite the fantastic directors working on the franchise, the performances are not very good or convincing. So let us look at films that contain better performances ….

10.) Batman Forever (Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face)

I have major problems with this version of Two-Face and how Tommy Lee Jones portrayed him. But all that side, he is more entertaining and full of life than just about the entire cast of The Twilight Saga.

9.) Hercules In New York (Arnold Strong as Hercules)

Arnold’s first big role, the film isn’t good. It has that reputation of being so-bad-its-good and it really is. When it comes down to it, and you compare, this is a more enjoyable and fun performance than what Robert Pattinson has achieved as Edward Cullen.

8.) The Toxic Avenger (The Entire Cast)

We all know what Troma makes, and it isn’t good. Lloyd Kaufman himself told me to give their films to someone I hate. But there is something fun about them, something in the way that we can appreciate how bad it is and just enjoy it. The cast knows what they are doing, funny that most of the people in The Twilight Saga do not.

7.) Street Fight (Jean-Claude Van Damme as Col. Guile)

Street Fighter is perhaps one of the worst films of the 90′s, but it also happens to be a lot of fun. Jean-Claude got a lot of hate for portraying Col. Guile, but then again just about everyone in the film was extremely mis-cast. His strong accent and terrible dialogue go hand in hand. His overall performance is something I can enjoy much more than

6.) Balloon Farm (Neal McDonough as The Sheriff)

Balloon Farm is a very strange and very disturbing film from Disney. It certainly falls into the WTF am I watching/so-bad-its-good category. One actor though rises above all the rest, he often turns up in less than stellar films, that man is Neal McDonough. His crazy Sheriff and uhh pie antics are so damn awesome, that watching him is far more entertaining than watching Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan mope over something stupid.

5.) The Room (The Entire Cast)

This film is one of the one of the worst films of the 00′s, it makes no sense and no one can correctly portray a human being. However, it is the faults that make this film so much fun. It’s message is not a good one, but remember The Twilight Saga condones something as ridiculous as a grown man (Jacob) falling for a baby …. yes The Room wins out.

4.) Star Wars Prequels ( The Entire Cast, yes even Ahmed Best)

As a fan of Star Wars since I was a kid, I was counting down the minutes till the first of the Prequels was released. I wasn’t as disappointed as some, and even upon re-watches I don’t mind them. Yes there are a lot of things wrong, but give me these any day of the week over The Twilight Saga. Jar Jar Binks is much more bearable than Taylor Lautner’s ‘acting’ in Eclipse.

3.) No Retreat No Surrender (Timothy D. Baker as Tom Stillwell)

For better or for worse this is one of my favourite martial arts films. It is a knock-off of The Karate Kid, it is a low budget affair and features early work from Van Damme. The acting is one of the many special things about this film, especially from Daddy Stillwell. His character gets his leg broken in front of his martial arts class and he cries about it, and this is more entertaining and well believable than a sparkling vampire.

2.) Showgirls (The Entire Cast)

Say what you will about Showgirls, but this is an entertaining film on so many levels. From the tantrums of Nomi Malone to Zack Carey’s bizarre hair, this film is a wonderland of awfully goodness. The characters are all mostly assholes, and it really paints so many things in a bad light. But at the end of the day this film makes Nomi Malone look like a real goddess over any of The Twilight Saga characters.

1.) Troll 2 (The Entire Cast)

Here is a film that over come cast and crew language barriers, some very intense script problems and the fact that the title references ‘trolls’ when there are none. Oh Troll 2, you are the best worst movie. Despite all your flaws, you are an endearing film and so much fun to watch. With everything that this film is and has become, it is true the performances are much better and believable than The Twilight Saga. I’d take Creedence over Bella, Michael Waits over Edward, Drug Store Owner over Jacob and Drew and Arnold over all the side characters.

  1. I fear poking the angry 13 years olds who love watching these movies. My sister was watching..one of these movies (I can’t tell which movie is which) and the vampire guy was on screen and I thought she was watching a Harry Potter movie cause he totally looked like Voldemorte to me.
