Netherbeast Incorporated
Â
The horror genre sees its fair share of crappy movies getting released into an already overcrowded market. Making it difficult to sift through the pile of terrible DVDs in order to find the diamonds, but on that rare occasion when the diamond does make it into your hands it’s totally worth the time you lost to get there. NetherBeast Incorporated is one of those films that makes me proud to be a genre fan. It offers up a unique take on the vampire mythos, it’s funny, quirky, and warrants multiple viewings.
The employees at Berm-Tech Industries have a secret. They’re all vampires (or something similar). But when the HVIC (head vampire in charge) Turner Claymore (Darrell Hammond) forgets he’s a vampire and kills one of his own, comedy goodness ensues. Otto (Blue’s Clue’s Steve Burns) a trusted Berm-Tech lifer takes it upon himself to save the company, while at the same time landing the girl of his dreams.Â
I really had a good time with this movie. It doesn’t take itself seriously, and the story wasn’t stale. The Ronalds brothers are talented filmmakers with great instincts, and a keen eye for comedy. Also, they assembled an extremely awesome cast that rocked the hell out of this flick. Steve Burns’ performance was a standout, and Amy Davidson was extremely cute. Â
If your a fan of horror-comedy hybrids that won’t test your intelligence, then NetherBeast Incorporated is the film for you, because it is most definitely a killer film.
The DVD
Audio: Came in loud and clear.
Video: Looks like really high quality video. Not quite as pretty as film, but not at all annoying either. Â
Special Features
NeitherBeast of Berm-Tech Industries Inc.: This is the original short film that the feature is based on. A totally rock solid short film, it’s funny and competently acted. Also, it was awesome to see that some of the actors from this short made it into the feature. Â
Commentary: The Ronalds brothers, and writer Bruce Dellis talk about the flick.Â
Behind the NetherRegions: A making of featurette that was pretty darn cool I had a good time watching this feature, and I wish other independent filmmakers would take the time to put together bonus features like this one. Â
Interviews with the Ronalds brothers:Â A short chat with the brothers Ronalds. Â
Photo Gallery:Â A pretty standard photo gallery.
