Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture Review
Â
Anime feature based on the very popular video game. A suit of armor that gives the wearer the power of Mars, is scattered all over the world into different pieces. A power hungry man named Laocorn wants to use the armor to rule the world. Now, with four of the six pieces found it is up to a small group of fighters to stop him.
Thoughts on the film

I’m not a huge gamer, I play from time to time. I am however a huge anime fan. I had seen Fatal Fury : The Motion Picture many time when I was a kid. In fact I watched it so often that I wore the vhs copy I had out. So I recently decided to take another look at the film and see if it still holds up now that I’m in my 20′s. I am very happy to report that it does. Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture has a pretty strong story that stays interesting and entertaining throughout the duration of the film. All of the main characters are well developed and extremely likable. Animation wise it is awesome and still stands up today. Each fight scene is fierce, brutal and sometimes contains special moves from the game. The version of the film that I watched was the English dubbed version, I have never been able to find it in it’s original language. However the dubbing does not ruin the film at all, in fact it’s pretty spot on for these characters. The only flaw that I can find with Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture is that a couple of the villains in the film are a bit under developed. That one tiny flaw aside Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture is bad ass, I highly recommend it.

Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture  is a very solid feature length anime. While not excellent, the picture is very entertaining and adrenaline pumping. The story is a lot more sophisticated than a lot of animes out there today. Don’t be turned off by the fact that this picture is based off of a video game because you don’t need to play the game to enjoy it. It features very well made and beautiful animation. It’s loaded with an abundant amount of likable characters that speak volumes to the audience as you might find yourself wanting to be one of the butt kicking protagonists saving the world. The climax is very enjoyable as our heroes must take on a full fledged armored Laocorn hell bent on destroying the world. The fight sequence is very exhilarating and cool as it will have any person with a pulse on the edge of their seat. My one and only complaint is that I wished the picture would be a little longer. As some would probably argue with me on this and say that it is already too long, I would’ve liked to have seen Joe kick some more butt. Alas, we can not have everything we want. I pretty much loved all the characters present in the movie excluding Mai, didn’t care for her. We watched the English dubbed version which isn’t horrible and is pretty good for a dubbed movie. Some dialogue is a little cheesy but it’s all in good fun. But as a whole I enjoyed the heck out of it. Packing a fist full of exciting and well mapped action, humor, and a budding romance, Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture is a very solid anime effort.
