Don Coscarelli’s Balls of Fury
Phantasm: the delusion of a disordered mind. A phantom. A spirit. A ghost. A great film.
30 years ago Don Coscarelli made a mini-classic about an inter-dimensional mortician who shrinks humans down to Jawa size so he can take over the world. While it was the Tall Man who become an instant horror icon with his ominous presense, it was the hyperspeed orbs that went on to define the series with their violent cranium drillings. The franchise has gone on to be one of the best in horror history.
The Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California brought in some of the key players for a Phantasm Triple Feature last night. Watching them all arrive outside and seeing them hug each other and conversing, you realize they are one big family. The films have become as much a part of their lives as ours. I’ve done quite a few of these showings and this was the first time I felt I was genuinely part of the festivities. Everyone seemed to appreciate that you were asking for a picture with them - they even made time to chat with the various fans who brought everything from posters, CD’s, and DVD’s to have signed . Thanks to all parties involved for a special evening!

Congratulations to the Phantasm family! It’s reach and warmth is not diminished by mere geographical considerations.
What a great day when they all played together. I wish I could have been there.

Roberto Quezada is a loser! That’s why you are no longer a member of the “family”.

Thanks for the kind words Roberto – we at Killer Film truly appreciate it.
Impressive resume! I didn’t realize you worked on such films as The Slayer, 1408, Microwave Massacre, The Unseen, Sweet Sixteen, and Beyond Evil.
