Celebrity Dish: Serving up the gossip you should know!

The world of celebrities is constantly welcoming new members to its’ elite status. There is always a hot young thing creating a buzz. And this week, they’re even younger than usual.

Several celebrities bundled their joy as they announced additions to their respective families.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden welcomed their second child last week. Sparrow James Midnight Madden, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces, made his appearance on Sept. 9.

Sparrow joins the couple’s daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who is 20 months old.

And in true celebrity fashion, Richie and Madden took to Twitter to discuss their newest arrival. Madden tweeted, “First day of his life, and my son is already a trending topic on Twitter. That’s right, son, you’re just like your old man. Wait, I’ve never been a trending topic.”

Richie later expressed her gratitude to her fans, tweeting, “What a great day to come back on Twitter. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I love my family!”

So, what do we think of the name Sparrow? It might be an unusual moniker, but with parents like his, this kid is destined to be cool, savvy?

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and her singer-songwriter husband Josh Kelley added to their family earlier this week as well. The couple adopted a 10-month-old special needs girl from Korea, who arrived stateside Saturday. Their daughter will be named Naleigh, which Heigl explained comes from her mother and sister’s names, Nancy and Leigh.

Of course, Heigl recently got in to the swing of motherhood, throwing a baby shower for Grey’s Anatomy co-star Ellen Pompeo, who announced her pregnancy in April. Chyler Leigh, who playsPompeo’s sister on the show, also gave birth to her third child earlier this summer. And rumors continue to swirl that co-star Eric Dane his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, also are expecting.

There is clearly something in the water at Seattle Grace – that is a lot of McBabies!

Singer (and very recent newlywed) Christina Milian also announced her pregnancy this week. Milian and The-Dream (real name: Terius Hagert Youngdell Nash) wed Sept. 4 at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

In addition, Elton John and his longtime partner David Furnish said last week that they were interested in adopting a 14-month-old Ukrainian toddler named Lev, who John met while doing work for his AIDS foundation. He said, though, that “bureaucratic obstacles” might keep it from happening. And they did. Yuriy Pavlenko, the minister of Family, Youth and Sports in the Ukraine, said that according to Ukrainian law, couples adopting a child must be married, and that country does not recognize gay marriages. In addition, John and Furnish are too old to adopt in the Ukraine, where adoptive parents must be 45 years old or younger.

Oh, and in case you missed it, Tom Brady confirmed this week that wife Gisele Bundchen is pregnant with the couple’s first child, who should arrive in December. Thank you, Tom, for that breaking news.

Things in Hollywood are always hot, but it seems lately that might be due to all the buns in the oven …
