Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie – DVD Extended Edition Review
Disney Channel’s original series The Wizards of Waverly Place just released it’s first feature length movie, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. The flick made it’s debut on the channel and is now available on DVD for the whole family to enjoy! I know my friends are gonna rag me out for this one, but I really dig Wizards. I think the writing is solid and all of the actors are strong. So I guess I don’t need to say that I was excited when the movie made it onto DVD.
The flick has all of the standard fun and mischief of the series and follows the Russo family on their vacation to the Caribbean. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turns into the adventure of a lifetime when Alex (Selena Gomez) casts a spell that causes her parents (Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise) to have never met. So Alex and her brothers Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin) have to find a way to reverse the spell before they cease to exist.
By the end of the flick Alex and Justin are forced to work together and the family unit becomes closer than they ever were. I had a blast watching this with my family. My kids loved every minute of it and were enamored by the special effects in the film, which are pretty impressive by the way, and my wife and I enjoyed it as well. This is solid family entertainment that won’t get stale after the kids force you to watch it over and over again. Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie is absolutely a killer film.

Audio/Video
The audio came in loud and clear, and the video was stellar for a made-for-television movie.
Special Features
Extended: The flick has a few exclusive footage that wasn’t seen on the flick’s Disney Channel debut.
On Location: The cast members take you on location to talk about the flick’s special effects, magical props, stunts, animal actors and much more. I enjoyed this feature, it was a pretty in depth look at how the show is made. Absolutely worth watching.
