Saving Grace: Season 2 – DVD Review

savinggraces2dvdWhen I got Season 2 of Saving Grace in the mailbox I wasn’t sure what to expect, because I had never seen a single episode of the series.  Before watching it I read up on the show and to tell the truth I wasn’t really excited about sitting through it.  I’m not really into religion so the thought of a woman that is constantly tormented by her hemorrhoid of a guardian angel didn’t really appeal to me.  But I must confess that after watching a few episodes I came to a single conclusion.  Holly Hunter is damn sexy.  Holly plays Grace Hanadarko a homicide detective in Oklahoma City that spends her time dealing with her messed up personal life and working the tough cases.  She sleeps around, drinks, and talks to her angel (sounds a lot like a Louisiana girl).  For those of you that have never seen the show, you heard me right.  She talks to her angel Earl, who in turn tries to talk her into straightening up her life.

I didn’t think I was gonna dig this flick at all, but man with characters as complex as Grace it’s hard not to.  I learned a lot watching this flick.  I learned that priests molest girls too, I learned that girls can look good holding a gun, and I learned that Holly Hunter has a great ass.

Overall Season 2 of Saving Grace made me a fan of the show.  The writing is strong, the acting is solid, and the subjects aren’t watered down.  Saving Grace: Season 2 is a positively a killer show.
