Nick Swardson: Seriously, Who Farted? – DVD Review

I’ve been a fan of Nick Swardson’s acting for a while now, but I had never seen his stand-up before. Damn Nick Swardson, you funny! I absolutely loved Nick’s show and can happily recommend his work to comedy fans.

Nick’s comedy special, Seriously, Who Farted made it’s debut on Comedy Central, albeit in a shortened state. So it’s a relief to see it in its entirety with all with the wonderful curse words in tact. Swardson’s style is a refreshing break from the current wave of comedians that load their entire show with their personal political agendas and religious views. There’s none of that here, just a slew of standard observational humor, mixed in with personal experiences that make for an extremely entertaining comedy special.

Swardson even takes the time to talk about some of his favorite movies (Transformers), as well as devoting a little time to some of his own movies (Grandma’s Boy). Comedy is the medicine that cures what ails me and Seriously, Who Farted came in just the right dose, it was positively a killer film.

The DVD

Audio/Video

The audio was pretty solid. It didn’t burst through the speakers like audio in an action movie, but it wasn’t supposed to. The video on the other hand was pretty standard. It is not terrible by any means, but it isn’t stellar either.

Special Features

Beardo & Dirt Nasty: Comedy musicians usually don’t do anything for me (except Tenacious D), and these guys didn’t do anything for me either. I was bored and sort of disappointed that these guys were the opening act for a comedian with Swardson’s skills.

Nick Swardson: Timeless Comic: Nick is seen throughout various time periods doing his comedy thing, and again he is really funny. This feature is worth watching.

28 Drinks Later: A mock trailer/parody of the flick 28 Days Later. I really enjoyed this little treat, and because it’s not a long feature it’s totally worth watching.

The Flick: Rating: ★★★½☆

The DVD: Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Nice review. I’ve enjoyed his films, GRANDMA’S BOY, BENCHWARMERS, etc. I also got his stand-up album a couple of years back. It was brilliant. He’s an untapped talent that should be bigger.

I think this DVD is really funny. I love how it’s so low key and laid back and at the same time you’ll be laughing about alcohol, drunk people, and fast food. Nick Swardson definitely needs to be in the spotlight more.
