Breaking Point – DVD Review
A recovering drug attic and disgraced attorney with a tragic past, Steven Luisi (Tom Beringer) discovers a ring of corruption and violence within the people he works for and around while working a high profile murder case to gain his credibility back. During his quest to bring down the corrupted people, he forms an unusual alliance with Richard “Beanz” Allan (Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones) a former star athlete who fell back into the violent lifestyle of a gang member. Together they venture to bring Al Bowen (Busta Rhymes) a heartless and ruthless gang leader/drug dealer down. Other major supporting characters include Marty Berlin (Armand Assante) a corrupt ADA and Celia Hernandez (Musetta Vander) Luisi’s close friend and fellow attorney.
It is safe to say that the movie industry is fairly affectionate of the common cop/lawyer movies. This at first look would appear to be one of those movies, but on the contrary this provides a storyline that I’ve rarely seen. A recovering drug attic turned attorney who is trying to get his life back on track. The plot is very awesome at most points of the movie. It wastes no time grabbing your attention at the beginning of the movie. Not only was I intrigued by the storyline, but my interest in the movie kept growing as the plot thickened. As a viewer, I enjoyed the movie throughout, but as a critic there were some spotty performances. Some scenes could have been done better, but luckily there weren’t too many of those scenes. Performances overall were slightly above average, but at some points the characters were not brought to life.
Conclusion:
There were some rough spots throughout, but an overall enjoyable movie.
