Alpha and Omega 3D – Review
Besides the swooping camera angles over mountains and forest trees, the 3D dazzles as it should for an animated film, yet it’s sort of smoke-and-mirrors for the simplicity of the story and the bland characters. Non-DreamWorks and non-Pixar films just have to be their own entity, regardless of bringing a stick to a gun fight in the animated arena. You don’t have to beat those guys down, you just have to appeal and win over an audience. Crest Animation/Lionsgate’s Alpha and Omega has a little charm, but it’s rather unfunny for a ‘toon, which doesn’t help its routine storyline.
Following a wolfpack, where the alphas hunt and the omegas break the tension (or as comedic relief), Alpha and Omega goes into typical categories of these types of animated films: opposites attract, a feud happens, goofy side characters, and a heartfelt acceptance at the end. It’s so predictable, that I’m afraid most kids under 9 will seewhat’s coming next. That’s not to say it isn’t without its own merits, however little, because the two leads voice actors have a little chemistry together, and while most people might rip on the seemingly off-putting animation style, it kind of works, too.
I think the area of the film that hurts the most is the lack of humor. Even the French-Canadian (“I’m French!” “No, you’re French…Canadian!”) gag barely puts a smirk on your face. Everything whizzes on by, but the lack of humor makes the typical story really feel generic and puts the film in neutral, when it should at least been coasting. Interestingly, there’s some adult sexual innuendos than appears out of nowhere and the mother’s heavy handed violent reactions, seem really out-of-place for what Alpha and Omega‘s only aim was for: the kids. It shouldn’t be too offhanded to take your children too, but in this rather crowded market, Alpha and Omega really doesn’t attempt much that hasn’t been done even on TV. Sadly, this marks one of the final things the late, great rebel Dennis Hopper done before his death.

I have to say I am 16 years old and I really enjoyed this movie. We can all see that it is not really for kids with all the sexual innuendos and Eve’s reactions but for my age this is a nice movie. If you actualy try to notice the main idea is that “exact opposites attract each other” which is shown by the rocker&librarian and by the wolfs(also by alpha and omega – 1st and last letter in greek alphabet).I have watched a lot cartoons, don’t judge them by quality of animation but by script and animation of characters (etc expressions on their faces).I have watched the movie so far 5 times because it’s not a bad way to spend 1:30hours.And as some critics have said that this movie is destroying brain cells – i’m not an idiot thank you very much. This is my and a lot more fan’s oppinion and I’m sorry if I have mistakes but my native language isn’t English.

It was a little too routine overall to me, but thanks for your comment!
