The Re-Grudgening
Story: Haunted Apartment with a bunch of teenage Japanese girls who keep on plummeting to their deaths off of their balcony. Ghosts pester everybody, mass hysteria, and the list goes on.
How can the Apartment building actually continue to stay open (especially the pool area), after so many young women jump to their deaths? Yes, that was the only philosophical question I asked myself while watching this film. This film was well shot and acted, but completely unoriginal and forgettable. I was reminded of the Grudge films, as well as the Ring, but that was the problem; been there done that already (many times over). On top of that, the movie plays like a soap opera with a bunch of girls crying all of the time – purely irritating.
I don’t really want to waste anyone’s time describing in paragraph-length terms why I didn’t like this movie; if there is a genre now for un-scary movies trying too hard to be scary, Apartment 1303 is at the top of that list. Watch only if you live on the first floor, so you won’t have a reason to jump off your balcony to avoid this film.
