New Release Tuesday
Welcome to New Release Tuesday for December 2nd! December starts off with a ton of titles, so let’s see what’s available and don’t forget that you can click on the covers to go straight to Amazon, if you need to!
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
The film, I thought, was okay, neither great like the first film nor bad. The biggest thing I was disappointed in was the lack of magic this one had. The first film was brimming with that charm that made everything feel magical and this felt like any old fantasy film. Disney will not disappoint with the Blu Ray and if this sells really good, maybe they will be convinced to go ahead with the third film.
White Dog: Criterion Collection
**PICK OF THE WEEK** Long time readers of Killer film have known how much I’ve been waiting for this release. For one, I’m a Sam Fuller fan. Two, I like totally original films and three, it’s from Criterion, so that should tell you all you need to know about this. A lady adopts a new dog and soon she starts to notice something odd about her pet. Whenever a black person crosses paths with it, it starts to attack. She soon learns that it was trained by racists. Fuller has always tackled racism in his films and here he goes for the throat.
X-Files: I Want to Believe
I was completely disappointed by this film. It never felt cinematic as it just felt like a subpar middle of the season episode. It was one of my worst midnight experiences; nobody was into it, the film was boring, and we waited a decade for this? Also on Blu Ray.
Day the Earth Stood Still: Special Edition
The sci-fi classic gets a new double dip special edition, as well as a Blu Ray, in time for the remake. This is an absolute classic and a must own. Very curious on the Blu Ray though.
Step Brothers
It’s loud, goofy, and yes, pretty funny. If you seen the trailer, you know what you’re in store for. Also on Blu Ray.
The Longshots
Directed by Fred Durst of all people, it looks generic but serviceable. Also on Blu Ray.
Wanted
I don’t know. Yes it was fun, but to me it was like Red Bull. Good for the time you drank it, got you hyper, but after the crash it’s back to whatever again. The big box set edition looks impressive with a film cell and other goodies. Also on Blu Ray.

New to Blu
Assault on Precinct 13
How awesome is it that John Carpenter’s first film is on Blu? Very.
Casablanca
Warner goes all out with this set.
Home Alone
Paranoid Park
Stranger than Fiction
The Shawshank Redemption
Austin Powers Collection
A pretty good week, I think. Lots of good Blu Ray titles and must haves, so keep it here for reviews of these discs and more only at Killer Film!
