New Release Tuesday

Welcome to another New Release Tuesday for November 11^th! Some good titles are coming out, so let’s look at them.

 

Kung Fu Panda

Actually this came out Sunday for whatever reason. This is spectacular on Blu Ray, no question about that. Oddly enough, you can only get the new 24-minute film, Secrets of the Furious Five with the standard DVD. Hmm.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

If you take away the first ten minutes and the last few minutes I would’ve really liked this film. Regardless, there’s some good stuff here, but I felt as him del Toro using this as a test run for The Hobbit. Also on Blu Ray.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I have to sadly report that this is pretty terrible. I wanted to like it, but when you have a transsexual Jabba the Hutt character, well, yeah. Avoid. Interesting of note, this is the first Star Wars film to be on Blu Ray.

Sukiyaki Western Django

Oh, Takashi Miike, what will you think of next? Add his bizarre mind to a western and I’m sure it’s a freaking trip! Multiple DVD covers for the various characters and a Blu Ray.

JFK: Ultimate Collector’s Edition

Get your conspiracy theory on with Stone’s film, another re-release with some new extras. Also on Blu.

The General: Ultimate Edition

**PICK OF THE WEEK** Kino is the leaders in silent cinema restorations and I can’t wait to see this 2-disc set of one of Buster Keaton’s best films. Simply awesome!

Christina Lindberg vs. Laura Gemser

I have absolutely no idea what this is, but two things of note: the left and right breasts of Christina Lindberg. No actually, it’s from Code Red an interesting new label of cult titles and the fore-mentioned Ms. Lindberg. Revert back to my Rediscovering article on her to play catch up!
