New Release Tuesday

Welcome back to another New Release Tuesday, the final one before Halloween and studios are releasing some interesting titles today, so let’s take a look!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

The only reason to see this is in 3-D. I’m not saying the 3-D is amazing, it’s your typical things flying at you, but what’s wrong with that? It’s a totally safe, family film nothing more. At least they kept the 3-D for both the DVD and Blu Ray versions, with four glasses! I can’t imagine seeing this in 2-D, ugh. A perfect brain dead, time-waster.

Hell Ride

This is the type of film they don’t make anymore unless it is on purpose. I didn’t see it yet, as it got a small release, but I’ll be checking it out soon. Not that this means much, but Quentin Tarantino has his name on it as a “presenter”. I’m digging these Dimension Extreme titles, so it’ll be worth it. Also on Blu Ray.

Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead

If the word Troma means anything to you, then you’ll dig this. If it doesn’t or if you don’t like Troma, well, early word is that this is pretty good. It’s so absurd it’s got to be worth a peek!

Zombie Strippers

**PICK OF THE WEEK** Robert Englund. Jenna Jameson. Zombie…strippers. Probably the recipe for the greatest midnight movie ever. Also on Blu Ray.

Pieces: 2-disc Special Edition

Grindhouse Releasing doesn’t produce much, but when they do they go all out. Now, I personally haven’t heard of this title, a gory wanna-be Texas Chain Saw but I’ll be damned if I don’t seek it out.

The Beyond

Lucio Fulci’s film has been released once before but quickly went out-of-print. Here’s the reissue from Grindhouse Releasing, so if you don’t have it pick it up! More Fulci is never a bad thing.

Tinker Bell

This is kind of odd. Now I know a lot of rabid Tinker Bell fans so making a solo movie for her seemed logical, but a CGI one? Ugh. Apparently, when Disney nixed further sequels to their beloved films, this one and Little Mermaid III were the one’s left alone. Also on Blu Ray.

New to Blu

Elf

Cruel World

Final Countdown

I’m happy to see Blue Underground getting in on the Blu Ray action, can’t wait for their Argento films to hit 1080p.

Polar Express

Finally presented in its original 3-D format, you get four glasses and a nice set of extras. I’m actually eager to see this in high def and in 3-D.

As you can see, studios released a lot of horror DVD today but either way, it’s a decent little week. You can click on the cover art and it’ll take you right to their Amazon page for quick ordering! See you all next week!
