Melissa Molina’s Halloween Watch List

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a great portion of us. The holidays are right around the corner, weather is finally cooling down, and we all are picking out costumes for the 31rst. Halloween is right around the corner, and that means horror movies are seeping out on every other cable movie channel aching to be seen. Forget their lists of typical films, it’s time to check out what films this costumed geek loves to freak out over. Personally I’ve got a soft spot for the horror flicks that came out in the eighties, so let’s center on which ones I completely dig that you should check out:

The Evil Dead (1981)

It’s Sam Raimi in his horror hayday along with budding actor Bruce Campbell. How could you not want to see this and get a taste of the good stuff?

Creepshow (1982)

Five stories told under the creative vision of George A. Romero that includes Leslie Nielsen as a wonderful bad guy? Sold.

The Thing (1982)

John Carpenter struts his stuff in this eighties remake and takes full advantage of the special effects that are sadly not used so often today. Don’t worry, that grizzly beard on Kurt Russell is not a special effect.

Fright Night (1985)

Tom Holland in the eighties to me seem to barely do any wrong at all, and this is one of those wonderful right’s. What I consider an attractive Chris Sarandon, vampires, cheesy goodness and some music composed by Brad Fiedel, you bet your ass you should sit down and watch this.

The Fly (1986)

It’s a wonderful story wrapped in great effects with awesome acting. If you haven’t seen this yet, then I don’t know what’s wrong with you.

Child’s Play (1988)

Oh Chris Sarandon, I can’t escape your grasp of awesomeness back in the day. Yes, I still hate the Chucky doll and though it freaks the hell out of me, I still watch it.
