Legion of Doom

The biblical epic Legion is fast approaching and the principle cast and crew descended upon the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention for a panel on the testerone-fueled action/horror film. This is a convention that I had never been to before and the best way to describe it would be it’s the San Diego Comic-Con shrunk down to rinky dink size. In attendance were director Scott Stewart, Tyrese Gibson, Doug Jones, Adrianne Palicki, and even the foul-mouthed granny herself Jeanette Miller.

The presentation opened with the great red band trailer that came out several months ago and later on there was an Exclusive action packed clip. The panel itself was suprisingly entertaining and you have to give props to Tyrese Gibson for breaking the ice by joking about how he didn’t want to be so close to the evil lady sitting next to him. A young girl approached the microphone to ask Tyrese if she could get a picture with him, and even though the moderator tried to stop it, he was a complete gentleman and had a photo-op with the starstruck fan. Scott Stewart was asked if he had ever seen The Prophecy and if there was any inspiration from the Christopher Walken film. He said he had watched it years ago, but never saw any of the sequels. He described Legion as more of a siege movie in the tradition of John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13.

There wasn’t time for any kind of interviews, but I did get a chance to tell the “Ice Cream Man” Doug Jones that he was one scary S.O.B. in the Fear Itself episode “Skin and Bones”. I tried my best to get a scoop on Priest but security wasn’t having it. I asked Scott Stewart about the wrap party he had for his film adaption of the comic series that took place at Dodger Stadium. He said it was a blast!
