Jason’s Cinematic Floaters of 2010
I am not a big fan of best and worst lists, but here I go with my Top 5 cinematic shit sandwiches of 2010.
Under the Mountain
Teen fantasy done wrong. Sam Neill is wasted in this Australian kick to the groin.
Daybreakers
An empty FX spectacle that is completely forgettable and feels like it was released years ago and not this past January. Sam Neill deserves better. Time to put on In the Mouth of Madness to make myself feel better!
The Wolfman
Universal should have learned their lesson with Van Helstink, but they did not. CG has a limited place in horror films, and with The Wolfman, it completely takes center stage and pushes Rick Baker’s great work aside. The Wolfman has no nards, heart or soul.
Cop Out
Kevin Smith thinks he can do no wrong as he struts around with his Cock Out in the seriously unfunny piece of trash that passes itself off as an homage to the great buddy cop movies of the 80′s. Blow me, Kevin!
MacGruber
No business in the front and no party in the back. Do you want to know what you can buy your worst enemy for Christmas? They will be in agony for years to come.

The only one I disagree with is DAYBREAKERS. I love that movie, and watch it about once a week.
COP OUT, as much as I hate it, and it’s the worst movie I’ve seen this year, after hearing Smith talk about the filming last week when I saw him, I understand why it came out so bad. doesn’t make it better, but it’s understandable.
Actually I blind bought Daybreakers and liked it.
Interesting take on vampire lore, plus I loved the look/atmosphere of the movie.
MacGruder looked like CRAP from the word Go, not suprised to see it mentioned here.
Comparing The Wolfman to Van HelSTINK, that’s cold dude.

The look is great. It reminds of an old 1940′s or 50′s film noir. Being that Film Noir is my second favorite genre behind horror, that made it a real trip for me. Plus Willem Defoe was just so bad ass in the movie.
I was wanting more from DAYBREAKERS. I enjoyed the Spierig Bros. prior film UNDEAD a lot.

Didn’t care much for Undead.

I saw UNDEAD a few weeks back. Now that was awful. But it was in the group of so awful it was just so much fun.
DAYBREAKERS looked in incredible. That’s the only compliment it will get from me.

Fair enough, we can can simply agree to disagree, lol!
Never heard of the 1st film listed above though, some Aussie action/ fantasy
with Sam Neil.
DAYBREAKERS is solid.

Daybreakers reminded me of Equilibrium, with the Protagonist going against the status quo to do what’s right.
A solid piece of crap.
