Interview – Kathryn Le
Coming in 2010 is 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, the sequel to the remake of 2001 Maniacs from madman director Tim Sullivan (Driftwood). This time around the residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibilistic carnival on the road after a sheriff shuts down the “detour” which has been ensnaring them unsuspecting Northerners for decades.
Killer Film had a chance to briefly talk to star Kathryn Le about her role in the squishy sequel that looks to outdo its predecessor in the exploitation department.
Jason Bene: Can you tell us about your character in 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams?
Kathryn Le: I play China Rose and the maniacs shipped me over from China to do their laundry and chores. I’m a maniac hired by Mayor Buckman and I play a real funny, sexy character who is a cannibal/killer. It’s a hot cast and there’s more blood, more sexy girls, more naked girls – you name it.
Jason Bene: How was it working with director Tim Sullivan, who is is back from the original film?
Kathryn Le: I love working with Tim, he’s such a sweetheart. He had a idea for my character and I eloborated on it, I love that he allowed me to work on the character together with him to make her funny, a sexy character that would appeal to the “Maniac” fans. He has a great vision for the horror genre.
Jason Bene: Do you have any future projects that you are working on?
Kathryn Le: I just wrapped a romantic comedy with Gary Marshall called Valentine’s Day and it’s coming out in February. I’m also working on a project of my own with my Asian character, a pilot about an Asian family, like a George Lopez or Ali G kind of thing. Hopefully it will take off.
Killer Film would like to thank Kathryn for the interview and and being so gracious with her time.
