Daniel’s Halloween Watch List
With Halloween being the favorite time of year for horror aficionado’s alike, good horror movies are always a rare treat that can satisfy the gore or genre hound.  That being said, the following films are required viewing for those looking to add a little blood to their DVD collection, or simply wanting to have a fun time watching a scary film with their loved ones.
Horror comedy – ReAnimator
Stuart Gordon’s horror film blends the perfect mixture of gory horror and hilarious thills in this odd send up of the zombie/body horror genre.
Body Horror – The Brood
David Cronenberg lets his emotions out regarding his familial situation with this classic horror film in what is the arguably the best horror film he has done. In the film a women gives birth to physical manifestations of her emotions.
Sci-Fi Horror – Cube
Easily one of my favorite horror films of all time. This ingenious horror film perfectly melds science fiction with outstanding gore when a group of unsuspecting individuals are left stranded for no reason inside a deadly maze.
1980’s Horror The Funhouse
Tobe Hooper, who is probably more well known for his iconic 1964 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, released this classic horror film featuring all the prerequisites for 80’s horror including an absolutely fantastic villain, crazy families, needless sex and womens breasts.
Indie Horror -Â Mute Witness
Featuring a creepy uncredited role by Alec Guiness, Mute Witness tells the story of a mute woman who while working on a film set discovers a snuff film occurring behind closed doors.
They Should have known better – The Hitcher
Tension this thick and effective can not go unnoticed. Â Soul Man himself, C. Thomas Howel,l and the fantastic Rutger Hauer (in one of the best villains of horror film history!) headline this thriller which re-enforces why you should never pick up strangers….EVER. Â Features one of the best deaths in any horror film.
European Horror – Cemetery Man
Rupert Everett stars in this pseudo horror film that mixes sex and zombies to magnificent results. Â A must viewing for those a fan of the zombie horror movement still permeating our local multiplexes.
Best horror you may have never seen – Who Can Kill A Child
For those afraid of the evil child movies, this one is a must see blending social commentary and graphic horror featuring children who have gone amok on an island that happens to contain no adults.
