Dan Riesser’s (Night of the Punks) Halloween Watch List

MURDER PARTY – I’m a big fan of anything made on the super cheap by first timers, and this movie is a perfect example. A group of filmmakers shot it completely independent for a ridiculously low budget. It’s a really funny movie. I’m a huge fan of the guys who made this and really hope to see more from them down the road. This movie deserves more attention than it gets.

TRICK R TREAT – Best production design in a horror film in a long time. Everything in the movie is pure eye candy. I like that its almost family-friendly with shades of early Tim Burton or Joe Dante. They don’t really make family-friendly scary movies anymore.

NIGHT OF THE DEMONS – Hands down my favorite Halloween season movie. I actually just watched the original a few nights ago after seeing the remake at Screamfest. Always gets me in the mood to party on Halloween.

MONSTER HOUSE - This movie seems to get lost in the shuffle and a lot of people didn’t seem to like it, but I really love it. It feels like someone took Goonies, Gremlins & Beetlejuice (three of my childhood favorites) and put them in a blender and came up with Monster House. To me, that’s the perfect mix.

I enjoy the types of films that used to dominate late night television in the '80s, spending time with my family, filmmaking, photography, Rubik's Cubes, Diet Pepsi, building old Shogun Warriors model kits, Canon cameras, comic books, AOR, coconut ice cream, mac & cheese, cold pizza, popcorn, nachos, UL Football tailgating, film festivals, reading, Barry Manilow (don't ask), films with both Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase in them, Alf, Pac Man, 1979 Trans AMs, beer, Godzilla, Hooters (both the restaurant and ones girls like to keep hidden), and Bigfoot (he's real). I'm just saying.
