Celebrity Dish: Serving up the gossip you should know!
For most people, their reality includes romance in some form – whether it is make-ups or break-ups, kisses hello or kisses goodbye, words of commitment or the dissolving of that commitment.
It’s no different for reality TV stars. Melissa Rycroft, who was a contestant on both The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars, married insurance agent Tye Strickland in a 30-minute sunset ceremony in Mexico last weekend. And I, for one, am happy for her. She’s had her own very public romantic missteps – accepting “Bachelor” Jason Mesnick’s proposal only to be jilted on national TV before making it to the altar. (He recently proposed Molly Malaney, the contestant who initially came in second to Rycroft.) It’s good to see her happy. Here’s wishing her and her husband the best.
Another reality TV star who had a “Shot at Love” is Tila Tequila (whose real name is Tila Nguyen). She announced her engagement to girlfriend, socialite and Johnson and Johnson heiress Casey Johnson, in an online video last week. Johnson apparently proposed to Nguyen with a 17-carat ring. No wedding plans have been announced, but Nguyen says the couple is “in a hurry to be wife and wife.”
Actress Uma Thurman won’t be walking down the aisle for a third time – at least not right now. She announced last week that her engagement to Swiss financier Apard Busson has ended. According to reports, the break-up actually happened two months ago, and the couple – as always – “remain friends.” They began dating in the summer of 2007, and Busson proposed with an eight-carat diamond in June 2008. After the split, Thurman says she intends to focus on her career and her children.
Speaking of children, several famous faces announced the arrival of their own bundles of joy in this last week.
One of those new arrivals from the stork will undoubtedly have his own famous face. Model Giselle Bundchen and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady welcomed their first child, a healthy baby boy. As of now, they have not announced his name. This is the second child for Brady, who has a two-year-old son, John, with actress Bridget Moynahan. With genetics like this, I’m thinking we can expect something along the lines of another David Beckham in a few years – athletic talent that can also model the last fashions from Armani.
The Dugars, who star on TLC’s “18 Kids and Counting,” welcomed their 19th child (yes, I said 19th) last week. Josie Brooklyn was born three months early, weighing in at 1 pound, 6 ounces. Their youngest arrived just two months after the couple became grandparents for the first time, when their oldest son, Josh, and his wife, Anna, welcomed daughter Mackynzie Renee. We wish the best for Josie.
Another reality star, former “Girl Next Door” Kendra Wilkinson, and her husband, Indianapolis Colt Hank Baskett welcomed their first child, Hank Baskett IV. The Playboy model spent more than 24 hours in labor, and despite being early (the baby was due on Christmas Day), he weighed in at 9 pounds, 5 ounces. Clearly, this not-so-little guy is going to grow up to be a linebacker!
Actress Amanda Peet also announced her pregnancy this week. She and her husband, screenwriter David Benioff, are expecting their second child. The couple already has a two-year-old daughter, Frances Pen.
It seems like many celebrities have reasons to be joyful this holiday season. So, allow me to wish all of you the happiest of holidays.
