Behind the Scenes: Take 5
Ah, good ol’ l33t 5p3ak… such a simpler time. Long before the plight of texting abbreviations, and eons ahead of the dreaded lol-speak. A simple concept really. Devise a way to bypass word filters on the internet through an ingenious method of superimposing numbers in place of the letters that look like them. Brilliant! It would have taken the best code breakers in the world to figure out what the elusive “pr0n” code could possibly stand for. Now no one will be able to stand in the way of hackers, and their goal of global dirty-word expressionism and flaming.
That being said, there is also an excessive amount of “honesty” on the internet these days, yet I fail to see this enlightenment manifest itself outside of the digital world. I have a strange inkling that this same honesty is actually just a person’s impulsive thought before it goes through their mind’s “reasonability” filter. Think of it like Tourette Syndrome… people who lack the innate ability to filter their speech and actions prior to expressing them to others. Yet for some reason people seem to retain this ability where they type before they think. I’m not sure how this physically works, but apparently our motor skills have become so advanced, they simply bypass the conscious thought process. If that’s not evolution at its finest, I don’t know what is.
