Wyatt taking on Planet of the Apes prequel?

Submitted by Melissa Molina on March 12, 2010 – 9:53 amNo Comment

That’s the word on the street according to Deadline New York who state that Rupert Wyatt is on board with directing the Planet of the Apes prequel. The script is written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, who both have previously collaborated on stories such as Eye for an Eye and The Relic. This will be the first feature that Wyatt has directed in awhile, the last one being the 2008 crime drama The Escapist. Wyatt is in the middle of post production on yet another feature entitled Birdsong, expected to come out in the UK sometime this year.

Twentieth Century Fox has quite a few films up it’s sleeve as of recent, not surprising since this is the same company that has quite a few profitable franchises under it’s belt. Among those pictures that are knee deep in development right now are X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 and Gulliver’s Travels. They also are backing up the Robert Rodriguez remake Predators which is poised to be shown at this year’s South by SouthWest Film Festival that already started up today.
