One of the benchmarks that we judge all bad movies by, thanks to Mystery Science Theater 3000, is a truly awful-but fun-bad movie called Manos: The Hands of Fate. This news item’s title is no bull, dear readers. It looks like, whether or not you are ready, a sequel is coming to the beloved bad movie about 40 years later, called Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge.
The plot (like it matters): “A woman battling mental illness regains her memory and heads into the deserts of El Paso, Texas to confront her inner demons and discover her mysterious past.” Some of the original cast members will be back. The film is gearing up for a 2011 shooting schedule for a 2013 release.
What works with these notoriously bad movies, is that they’re unaware that it’s bad. If one becomes too self-conscious about it, then the film can fail to please in any terms. If we survive the Mayan-proposed Apocalypse, this is what awaits us.
